WWE fans were surprised and shocked as Tommaso Ciampa revealed that his time with the company is almost over. After spending more than a decade in WWE, the former NXT Champion confirmed that his contract will end soon.
What Tommaso Ciampa said about leaving WWE SmackDown
Tommaso Ciampa shared the update in an emotional Instagram post, writing, “In the very near future, my contract with the WWE will officially come to an end. I’d like to thank every single person who contributed to the last ten years of this incredible journey… camera crew, ring crew, hair and makeup team, seamstresses, referees, creative, producers, catering crew, commentators, ring announcers, travel department, medical team, talent reps, and anybody I may have missed.”
He then thanked the fans for supporting him for more than 20 years, saying “thank you from the bottom of my heart.” Ciampa ended the emotional part of his message by talking about his wife and daughter, calling them his strength and writing, “you are my rock and my forever ‘why’. I love you more.”
Ciampa reflected on his career by breaking it into decades. He spent his first ten years wrestling on the independent scene and the next ten traveling the world with WWE. With one more decade ahead of him, he said he feels excited about the future. He described himself as “an incredibly lucky person” who has lived his childhood dream and plans to keep chasing it.
He also confirmed that he is now open to new opportunities. “With that said, for the first time in over ten years, I am available for all appearances, signings, photo ops, seminars, movies, tv appearances, fitness collaborations, sponsorships and so forth. Please email any inquiries to: [email protected] . Thank you.”
Ciampa first joined WWE in 2007 after the short run he returned in 2015, and officially signed in 2016 alongside Johnny Gargano in NXT. During his run, he won the NXT Tag Team title once, the NXT Championship twice.
His final match took place on the December 19th 2025 episode of WWE SmackDown, where he and Gargano lost to Carmelo Hayes and Ilja Dragunov. As Ciampa moves into the next phase of his career, fans are now waiting to see what the 40-year-old star decides to do next.
