While Waiting For Tulsa King S3, Watch TV’s Rival 92% RT Gangster Series Returning For Season 4

Taylor Sheridan’s gangster series Tulsa King will be returning for season 3 on September 21, but before the crime series returns, fans should check out Godfather of Harlem, another crime drama that is equally good. Tulsa King season 3’s trailer teases a new set of problems for Dwight and his family, as well as notable new additions, including Samuel L. Jackson.

In short, Tulsa King season 3 is already sure to be a thrilling ride. What’s more, Tulsa King season 2 ended with a cliffhanger, ensuring that audiences would need to come back for another season to learn who abducted Dwight, but before that can be answered, there’s plenty of Godfather of Harlem to wathc.

Godfather Of Harlem Is Another Great Ongoing Gangster Series Like Tulsa King

For fans of gangster crime thriller shows like Tulsa King, Godfather of Harlem is a great similar series to check out. The show takes place in the titular New York neighborhood and centers on Forest Whitaker’s Bumpy Johnson, a mob boss who attempts to take back control after a decade in prison.

Similar to Sylvester Stallone’s Dwight “The General” Manfredi assembling his new crew after arriving in Tulsa and facing plenty of pushback from enemies, Bumpy Johnson has to battle it out with the Italian mob in order to win back his neighborhood. Both shows aren’t afraid to show how violent these criminal dealings can be, making them exciting watches.

Likewise, both series benefit from their excellent casting, with each featuring veteran crime genre actors. Stallone and Whitaker are both great in their roles. Excitingly, Godfather of Harlem‘s cast also includes Vincent D’Onofrio, Giancarlo Esposito, Paul Sorvino, and other talented performers.

Currently, Godfather of Harlem has four seasons, which have received positive reviews. MGM+ has not yet confirmed whether the crime show will be renewed for season 5, but the show has plenty of stories left to tell about its real-life main character.

Godfather Of Harlem Takes From Real-Life Gangsters’ Stories

While Tulsa King is an entertaining and original series, Godfather of Harlem is an intriguing watch in part because it is based on real history. Naturally, every historical series will take liberties to ensure audiences remain entertained, but when it comes to the history of various mobs in New York, the real thing is already darkly fascinating.

Whitaker’s character, Ellsworth Raymond “Bumpy” Johnson, was a real crime boss in Harlem. By the mid-1930s, Bumpy Johnson was already a prominent figure within the Harlem crime scene. Like the TV series depicts, Johnson was sentenced to prison, and remained there until 1963 before returning to crime.

The series also includes other real figures like Malcolm X and Italian crime family members. Overall, Godfather of Harlemis a fascinating take on a specific time period in the history of New York that audiences still find captivating today, and its crime drama elements ensure that fans of Tulsa King won’t be disappointed.
