‘Top Gun’ and ‘South Park’ Get Overtaken by Adam Woodward’s Forgotten Action-Thriller on Streaming

Man With No Pastis a straight-to-streaming thriller that stars Adam Woodward, Jon Voight, and Marton Csokas. It was originally released in January 2025 and didn’t get much attention at the time. But now, completely out of nowhere, it has surged to the top of the Paramount+ charts. It’s currently the #1 movie in 18 countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, and Peru. Even more surprising, it’s beating major titles like Top Gun: Maverick, Gladiator II, and South Park.

This rise is especially surprising given the timing. Director Joseph Kosinski’s new film, F1,just hit theaters and has been getting plenty of critical acclaim. Naturally, this has led to a spike in Top Gun: Maverick rewatch value on Paramount+. But instead of Kosinski’s legacy sequel taking the top spot, Man With No Past has somehow overtaken it. The film is directed by James Bamford, who’s previously directed episodes of Supergirl, Arrow, Batwoman, and Superman and Lois. He has also helmed films like Utopia and Air Force One Down, and brings that same high action energy to this project.

Man With No Past centers around a man who wakes up in a hotel room with no memory of who he is. The only thing he can recall are strange flashes of what appear to be his past lives. With the help of a few allies, he tries to piece together who he is and why he’s being hunted. Despite its recent streaming success, the film remains almost completely unknown. It doesn’t even have enough engagement to earn a rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Currently, it has just three published critic reviews, two of which are negative, and fewer than 50 audience ratings.

Why Is ‘Man With No Past’ Suddenly Blowing Up?

Despite the low profile, the movie is gaining serious traction thanks to its concept. The plot feels very reminiscent of Mementoand the Jason Bourne series. Even the negative critic reviews on Rotten Tomatoes admit that the film’s core premise is solid. A Reddit post on the Letterboxd subreddit even called Man With No Past the perfect pick for both “best movie of the year” and “most underrated.” The film features plenty of action scenes, an intriguing plot, and a few surprising twists that keep viewers hooked. It seems that viewers who have browsed through most of Paramount+’s usual offerings have stumbled onto this hidden gem, and word-of-mouth has shot this movie to the top of the charts.
