Tom Blyth and Emily Bader Fall in Love in First Look at Netflix’s ‘People We Meet on Vacation’ Adaptation

In less than six months, fans will get to meet Poppy and Alex from Emily Henry‘s beloved novel People We Meet on Vacation. The book has been adapted by Netflix and stars Emily Bader (My Lady Jane) and Tom Blyth (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) as leads Poppy and Alex. Sarah Catherine Hook,Lucien Laviscount,Miles Heizer,Jameela Jamil, Tommy Do, Lukas Gage, Alice Lee, Molly Shannon, and Alan Ruck also star. Now, Netflix is unveiling the first images for People We Meet On Vacation. In the images, we get our first look at Poppy in a recreation of the cover, underneath the beach umbrella.

We also see Poppy arriving on vacation looking stylish as ever, as well as Blyth and Bader cozied up as Alex and Poppy. Fans also get to see some of the pair’s adventures as their dynamic of best friends slowly transforms to something more as their summer vacation develops their friendship into romance. Fans got a “first listen” earlier this year of Blyth and Bader recreating some of the book’s dialogue, and now these images are giving a proper look at the romance awaiting them when People We Meet on Vacation hits Netflix January 9.

The logline for People We Meet on Vacation is as follows:

“Free-spirited Poppy and routine-loving Alex have been unlikely best friends for a decade, living in different cities but spending every summer vacation together. The careful balance of their friendship is put to the test when they begin to question what has been obvious to everyone else — could they actually be the perfect romantic match?”

What Other Emily Henry Works are Headed for Adaptation?

The story of Poppy and Alex is not the only Emily Henry romance being brought to life. There are currently plans, in various stages, for more of Henry’s works to be adapted for the screen. They range from the author’s debut, Beach Read, to the other books she’s released over the past five years. Deadline reports that four of Henry’s other books are in production. The four other books are certainly not as far along as People We Meet on Vacation, with no cast currently announced for any of the projects. Beach Read will be adapted and directed by Yulin Kuang, another literary-themed romance, Book Lovers will have Sarah Heyward writing the script, and Jennifer Lopez‘s Nuyorican Productions has optioned Henry’s book Happy Place.
