The Voice is going to look very different next spring. Not just because of the coaching lineup, but because of the coaching lineup. The Voice has officially revealed their celebrity coaches taking on the infamous red spinning chairs for Season 29: Adam Levine, John Legend, and Kelly Clarkson. For the first time in the show’s history, the long-running singing talent show will only employ three coaches.
Season 29, subtitled “Battle of the Champions,” will see a slightly different format than cycles past. The three champion coaches will compete in a Triple Turn Competition that will provide the victor with a Battle-round Super Steal that nullifies any rival’s attempt to steal a sought-after singer. In the Knockouts, the trio of coaches will bring back two artists each from their past teams to go head-to-head in an In-Season All-Star Competition. The coach who earns the most wins in the face-offs will be guaranteed a second finalist in the Top 4. This round will be judged by original coach CeeLo Green.
The semi-finals will comprise the Top 9, with the finale featuring the Top 4. The biggest change for this round will be watching a new voting block of superfans and in-studio Voice alumni playing favorites in real time. The remixed season, which will feature all-star veterans and new stars, is set to premiere spring 2026.
‘The Voice’ Season 29 Is a Champion Reunion
The format change is set to be “infused with fast-paced, competitive elements,” inspired by NBC Sports, according to NBC. According to 1Iota, The Voice began their Blind Auditions this week with a live studio audience on hand to witness the new format. Clarkson will be filming The Voice and The Kelly Clarkson Show concurrently.
