‘The View’ Host Ana Navarro’s Recent Feud With Trump Just Got Season 29 Off to an Explosive Start

Ana Navarro’s latest clash with President Donald Trump is already setting the tone for The View’s upcoming Season 29.

The co-host, a longtime critic of the administration, took to Instagram to call out members of the Latino community who supported Trump, blaming them for ICE raids and family separations: “sh– you all voted for,” she wrote. The White House quickly responded, reportedly saying, “Just when you think Ana Navarro can’t get any dumber, she proves you wrong,” according to Entertainment Weekly.

Navarro joins a growing list of current and former co-hosts who have been personally targeted by Trump and his team. While ABC’s daytime show isn’t expected to tone down its commentary, questions remain about whether the administration might push back. Navarro, who also criticized First Lady Melania Trump earlier this month, seems undeterred. If the co-hosts maintain their united front, Season 29 could be the most explosive yet.

The View hasn’t even returned from its summer break, but Ana Navarro’s social media posts have already caught President Trump’s attention. While she didn’t attack him directly, she criticized Latino voters who supported him. In one Instagram video, she referenced a New York Governor Kathy Hochul post about ICE detaining a young girl, writing, “A 7-year-old girl. Where are all them Christians at?” She later added, “Latino Trumpers, is this the s—t you all voted for? So your tias and abuelas can be spied on?” in response to reports of “neighborhood checks” by the administration. Navarro also highlighted a video of ICE officers tasing a gardener in Beverly Hills, shared by John Leguizamo. On Melania Trump, she called out the First Lady’s letter to Vladimir Putin about protecting children in Ukraine as “performative hypocrisy.”

With Trump continually displeased with any disapproval from his critics, his White House representative, Abigail Jackson, attacked Navarro. In addition to questioning her intelligence, the statement obtained by EW continued, “Democrat party approval is at record lows because, instead of accepting that their party is wrong and out of touch with Americans of all backgrounds, they have surrogates like Ana attacking anyone who dares disagree with her.” It closed out by encouraging The View panelist to “Keep it up, Ana!”

Despite these comments coming during the off-season of the series, Navarro has not held back about the ongoing turmoil in the country. Before the summer hiatus, Navarro called Trump a “horrible human” for his creation of the now-illegal “Alligator Alcatraz,” which earned a similar statement from the White House. Navarro doesn’t seem to be dismayed by any attacks, which means she’ll continue to be a forceful presence to admonish the administration’s actions. While some fans of the show wish the Hot Topics would simmer a bit in regard to political discussions, the conversations have consistently brought attention to the long-running show. With Navarro joining the likes of Joy Behar, Rosie O’Donnell, and Whoopi Goldberg, Trump is more than likely to pay attention to the series to how he is being depicted. Although Alyssa Farah Griffin is the only staunch conservative panelist at the table, she has also been critical of the President.

Talk Shows Are On the Chopping Block

This summer, former co-host O’Donnell drew attention to her concerns about The View’s future. Trump has called for the show’s cancellation after Behar suggested he was jealous of former President Barack Obama. Having potentially played a part in the cancellation of Stephen Colbert‘s place on The Late Show, Trump has been attempting to change the landscape of talk shows that are critical of him.

When The View returns, it’s likely the threats won’t have any impact on the discussions at the table. In fact, they’re likely to be amplified in a chaotic game of chicken. The daytime talk show is a celebration of freedom of speech. Yes, some of the co-hosts have found themselves in trouble for their statements, but the show is based on having a discussion through different perspectives. Although ABC appeared to respond to the administration last year, it seemed to have no impact on the series. The View‘s 29th season is now more anticipated than ever.

The View returns for Season 29 on Monday, September 8, at 11 a.m. ET. All episodes are available to stream on Hulu.
