The Pitt Season 2’s New Characters Are Repeating One Overlooked Detail That Helped Make Season 1 Such A Success

HBO’s The Pitt has added four new actors to its cast for season 2, and they’re repeating an overlooked detail that made Dr. Langdon (Patrick Ball) one of the show’s best characters. As The Pitt season 2 continues to draw nearer, more details about the next season continue to come out. We know that The Pitt season 2 will focus on Dr. Langdon’s first day back at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center after going into rehab, and will cover the Fourth of July weekend. We also know several doctors and nurses will be returning alongside Langdon, and we’ll get a chance to learn what they’ve been up to in The Pitt season 2’s time jump.

On top of it all, we also know that the cast of The Pitt is set to expand in the second season. New doctors, nurses, and patients are coming to PTMC, but there’s no telling how their stories will play out yet. That being said, there are some hints that the new characters in The Pitt season 2 will be able to recapture some of the magic of the first season. The casting news particularly mirrors the circumstances of Patrick Ball’s casting in The Pitt season 1, and it may be a clue that the medical drama has found even more compelling characters.

The Pitt Season 2’s Casting News Mirrors Patrick Ball’s Casting As Dr. Langdon

Like Ball, Many Of The Pitt Season 2’s New Actors Have Very Little TV Experience

Now, The Pitt season 2 has added four new actors to its cast, and two of them bear a striking similarity to Patrick Ball. Before starring as Dr. Langdon on The Pitt, Patrick Ball was relatively unknown in the world of television. He had made a name for himself in stage plays and other theatrical acting, and he only had a single guest appearance on Law & Order prior to landing the medical show. That didn’t stop him from making Langdon one of the best characters in The Pitt, however, and many critics and viewers alike praised Ball for his acting abilities.

Dr. Langdon’s Dark The Pitt Season 1 Story Is Even More Impressive Due To This Surprising Fact About His Actor

Dr. Langdon’s story was one of the darkest and most memorable parts of The Pitt, but this fact about Patrick Ball makes it all even more incredible.

Two of the newest actors confirmed for The Pitt season 2 – Laëtitia Hollard and Lucas Iverson – are in the same boat Patrick Ball once was. Both Hollard and Iverson have really only had experience with acting in theatrical productions of stage plays, just as Ball did before The Pitt. That’s not to say they’re completely unheard of; Hollard attended Julliard and Iverson starred in a production of Frankenstein by the Shakespeare Theatre Company. All it means is that Hollard and Iverson are essentially unknown quantities in the world of TV, and The Pitt season 2 will be their big break on the small screen.

The Pitt Season 2’s New Actors Could Prove Just As Successful As Langdon

Hollard & Iverson May End Up Being The Most Pleasant Surprises Of The Pitt Season 2

While it is interesting that The Pitt is again taking a chance on relatively unknown actors again after seeing the gamble pay off with Patrick Ball, there may be more to the story than a fun fact. One of the best parts of Langdon’s story in The Pitt season 1 was how surprising it was, not just because Langdon turned out to have a drug problem, but also because Ball was shockingly effective at playing him. Outside the world of theater, Ball was a complete unknown, yet he nailed his role in The Pitt and provided audiences with a surprisingly great performance.

Laëtitia Hollard and Lucas Iverson have a chance to do the same thing for The Pitt season 2 that Patrick Ball did for the first season. Hollard and Iverson are essentially complete unknowns, but The Pitt cast them for a reason. Their respective characters could end up being just as surprisingly captivating as Langdon was, and The Pitt season 2 may use its young talent to do something truly unexpected. Hollard and Iverson may be just as perfectly cast for their characters as Ball was for Langdon.

Every Character In The Pitt Confirmed To Return For Season 2

The Pitt featured a huge ensemble cast, but only a few are already confirmed to return for the second season of Max’s intense medical drama.

More broadly, Hollard and Iverson’s casting proves that The Pitt is continuing one very promising trend. While it does boast some big names like Noah Wyle, The Pitt doesn’t rely on star power. Instead, The Pitt is much more dedicated to finding the right actor for the right role, regardless of how famous they are. That’s why Ball was so good as Langdon: he was the perfect actor to play that part. Hollard and Iverson were likely also cast because they were the best choices for their characters, which is a very promising sign for The Pitt season 2.
