Taylor Swift Just Revealed a Blink-and-You’ll-Miss-It Change on ‘The Graham Norton Show’

It’s Taylor Swift day! While we normally celebrate Mean Girls Day on October 3, with the release of Swift’s highly anticipated album, The Life of a Showgirl, this year, we’re switching it up. Making one of her first talk show appearances since the album’s debut, Swift showed up on The Graham Norton Show with a notable change to her style.

Present to celebrate her new 12-track album, Swift was seated in the first seat closest to host Graham Norton — an honor relegated to the biggest stars. Looking classy and regal, InStyle reported that the global superstar wore a halter-neck, little-back dress by David Koma, featuring a jewel-encrusted collar. The biggest shift for Swift, though, was her hair. Often seen with her typical middle part, Swift opted for a side-swept bang moment — but have no fear, her signature red lip and winged eyeliner topped off the entire look. Dare we say, she looked iconic.

Swift initially announced her long-awaited twelfth album while appearing on her then-boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast, New Heights, before the couple revealed their engagement on August 26 in a joint Instagram announcement. So, beyond her outfit and bangs, everyone was quite curious to see what Swift’s sparkling diamond engagement ring looked like on screen. The Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end teamed up with Kindred Lubeck of the brand Artifex Fine Jewelry, which houses luxury designs retailing upwards of $33,600, to design the ring, according to People. The vintage-style piece of jewelry features a massive old mine brilliant-cut diamond and is estimated by Angelic DiamondsNeil Dutta to be between 7 and 10 carats.

Earlier today, Swift also appeared on the UK breakfast radio show Heart Breakfast to discuss both her new album and her recent engagement. Speaking to hosts Emma Bunton and Jamie Theakston, Swift showed off the ring, revealing: “I had shown him a video, I just thought her stuff was so cool, I had shown him a video like a year and a half ago, and he was just paying attention to everything it turns out because when I saw the ring I [gasped] … I was like,‘I know who made this, I know who made this,’ and also, you listen to me!”

Swift has been a delightful and honest guest during her many appearances on The Graham Norton Show. Her first appearance was in 2014 to plug her music, followed by sit-downs in 2018, 2019, and 2022, where she was on hand to discuss her music video “All Too Well: The Short Film” as well as the album Midnights. Swift’s Friday night appearance marks her fifth time. Joining Swift on Norton’s big red couch were actors Greta Lee,Cillian Murphy,Jodie Turner-Smith,Domhnall Gleeson, and singer Lewis Capaldi.

Swift’s latest appearance is destined to go viral thanks to Norton’s brilliant ability to ask the questions fans want answered. Now in Season 33, The Graham Norton Show has lit up late night since 2007, with its premiere featuring The Smashing Machine stars Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt. Upcoming guests will include the likes of Julia Roberts,Jennifer Lawrence,Bruce Springsteen, and Jeremy Allen White.

The Graham Norton Show airs Fridays on BBC America. Episodes are available to stream on Netflix.
