Taylor Sheridan has already wrapped up season 2 of his most interesting Yellowstone spinoff, even before season 1 gets a release date. It has been a year since the Yellowstone flagship show ended on Paramount+. Despite the challenges, primarily brought up by Kevin Costner’s abrupt exit as John III, Sheridan delivered a super-sized send-off to the Duttons of Montana, which left both Beth and Kayce getting what they want but Jamie dying.
Because of how popular the Yellowstone franchise is, Sheridan has launched a couple of more spinoffs that center on the Dutton family. Kayce will be spearheading Y: Marshals, while Beth and Rip will be leading The Dutton Ranch. That said, there’s also one other offshoot that doesn’t have ties to the family, making it the most intriguing of them all — The Madison.
Per cast member Elle Chapman (via Collider), filming for The Madison season 2 has already wrapped. On her Instagram Story, she posted: “And that’s a wrap on season 2. Heart is full.” Social media posts about projects ending production isn’t anything new, but what makes this more interesting is that The Madison doesn’t even have a confirmed release date for season 1. Still, Chapman’s announcement is exciting for anyone who is looking forward to the expansion series.
The Michelle Pfeiffer-led Yellowstone spinoff titled The Madison is still shrouded in mystery, even as Sheridan and the cast have finished two full seasons of the show. Plot specifics about the new offshoot remain tightly under wraps, although it is confirmed that it will follow an entirely new family — one originally from New York, who moves to the Madison River valley of central Montana. Joining Pfeiffer is a stacked cast of Chapman, Patrick J. Adams, Kurt Russell, Matthew Fox, and Beau Garrett, among others.
Perhaps the announcement that production for The Madison season 2 has already finished is an indication that additional details about the show will soon be released. Granted that Sheridan is likely focused on the rollout of Y: Marshals on CBS next month, at least now, he has two full seasons of his other Yellowstone expansion series that is ready for work on post-filming and then eventually, its release.
Another benefit to this is that Sheridan doesn’t need to spread out its release, since he already has season 2 already fully shot. If the response to the Yellowstone spinoff is great, the creator and his team have the option to shorten the wait time between seasons 1 and 2. Obviously, that isn’t a guarantee that it will happen, but it’s still great to have that kind of choice when it comes to its roll-out.
