Six years after the last season of One Punch Man aired, Season 3 has landed with a bang. Ever since it found a new home outside Crunchyroll and released its first two episodes, the superhero action anime has secured a spot on the streaming charts, proving that this show still has a dedicated audience that’s eager to see what happens to Saitama following Season 2’s events.
One Punch Man Season 3 ranked #6 on Netflix’s Top TV Shows worldwide as of October 21, 2025, between Old Money and the Japanese adaptation of Romantics Anonymous. Before the show’s release, director Shinpei Nagai warned fans that the next installment might not live up to the previous seasons, and he urged them not to harass him or the show’s staff. Additionally, during the lead-up to Season 3’s release, fans criticized the trailer, describing it as a downgrade.
One Punch Man Season 3 takes place during the Monster Association Arc, after Saitama defeats the Dragon-level creature, Elder Centipede. At the same time, Garou is taken to the Monster Association due to his hatred for heroes and has the potential to join their ranks. The Hero Association determines its next course of action, viewing Garou as a threat and the monsters as responsible for kidnapping the son of its primary sponsors.
Are Fans Rejecting ‘One Punch Man’ Season 3?
When One Punch Man first aired in 2015, it immediately became a massive hit, generating a high audience score of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.48 MyAnimeList Score. The series tells the story of Saitama, an ordinary man who becomes a powerful hero through rigorous training and seeks out battles that truly excite him, as he’s capable of defeating his enemies with a single punch.
While there are people streaming Season 3, its first two episodes haven’t captivated audiences as much as Season 1 and 2. Over on IMDb, Season 3’s first episode, titled “Strategy Meeting,” received a 6.9 rating, which is lower than the 8.3 score that Season 1, Episode 1 earned and the 7.2 score from Season 2, Episode 1. The score continues to drop by episode 2, sitting at 6.0, which is once again lower than in previous seasons. Additionally, the show has yet to appear on Netflix’s official Top 10 overview, unlike its other anime offerings that came out this year, but that could change as the Season progresses.
