While Pokémon Legends Z-A might not be everything fans wanted, it’ll remain a historical document of the series entering the Switch 2 era. Given that it just hosted its first (and likely only) DLC in Mega Dimension, gamers are wondering what might be next for the spinoff.
It turns out, there’s still a significant feature planned, as per the official Pokémon website. Like the base game, it comes with at least one catch.
Pokémon Home Support Is Still Coming To Z-A
It’s Slated For 2026
It’s easy to forget, but Pokémon Home support is still planned for Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
Since we don’t have a ton of info yet, here is the blurb we do have: “Connectivity between Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Pokémon HOME is scheduled to become available in 2026. Once you’ve linked this title to Pokémon HOME, you’ll be able to transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Legends: Z-A to Pokémon HOME and bring select Pokémon from past games to Lumiose City. Enjoy adventuring in Lumiose City even more alongside a variety of Pokémon!”
Pokémon Legends: Arceus only needed roughly three months and change to add Home support. With Legends: Z-A, we’re reaching that mark now, given that it officially launched on October 16, 2025. If the prior timeline holds, we should be getting Home support any time now, potentially in February.
Z-A & Pokémon Home Have A Catch
It’s A Pretty Big Proviso
Like many things Pokémon-related, there are some catches, which The Pokémon Company thankfully lists on their website.“Pokémon cannot be transferred from Pokémon Legends: Z-A to previous titles in the Pokémon video game series” is the biggest negative, as is: “If you transfer a Pokémon from a previous title to Pokémon Legends: Z-A, you will no longer be able to transfer it to previous video games in the Pokémon series.”
So it’s a closed two-way street, so to speak. You can’t bring Pokémon from Z-A into any other current game, and if you bring something into Z-A, it’s vaulted forever inside that game. That is, until a new mainline iteration or spinoff comes out. The idea is that Z-A serves as a springboard for future games, but famously, that strategy never goes down well with fans.

At this point, it’s a fairly confusing system, and it’ll get even tougher to decipher once Pokémon Legends: Z-A gets Home support. Consider this a PSA before you transfer anything into Z-A.
