Pokémon Eventide Could Be 2026’s Best Pokémon Game

No matter what fans think of the current state of the Pokémon franchise, they’ll always be looking forward to what might be, whether that’s wishlist and hopes for the future, or taking matters into their own hands with fan creations.

This new creation, shared on Reddit, has fans incredibly hopeful. It could end up being one of the sleeper hits of the year for Pokémon enthusiasts.

Pokémon Eventide Looks Stunning

I Can’t Wait To See More

Over on Reddit, modder Turtleye shared their progress for Pokémon Eventide, and it looks promising. Using Pokémon Emerald as a base, the project boasts a new region and storyline, as well as custom-made graphics that look strikingly different from the retro entries in the series. It features a regional Pokédex of roughly 400 Pokémon, as well as a crafting system, a modern battle engine, and even a quest system.

You can see how the project is progressing below, with a new UI update:

Roughly a year ago, the creator said they were “about halfway done” with the graphics, maps, and script elements and were moving on to UI and features. They explain that there haven’t been major updates for the project because they would have mostly been “under the hood.”

Future updates are aiming to be posted on Reddit, as they have in the past, so keep an eye on their account. That could change, though, based on a recent statement: “We don’t post a lot of regular updates currently due to a lot of work being very systemic right now – things like UIs or general gameplay systems. Once these are more or less final and we can start pushing actual content, I’ll probably set up a Discord server or similar.”

This Fan Project Should Drop In 2026

It Should Be A Big Year For Pokémon

With any luck, the timeline for Pokémon Eventide could line up for a 2026 release. It would be perfectly timed, given how much is happening next year with the franchise. With how underwhelming some celebrations have been, fans will likely appreciate any and all movement on this series.

2026 should be a banner year for Pokémon, which is just as well given that it’s the 30th anniversary of the release of the original generation of games in Japan. Coming off of the Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension DLC, we’re also getting a McDonald’s collaboration for the Trading Card Game, and the launch of Pokémon Pokopia in March. There should be some surprises in store as well amid all the leaks detailing future iterations.

As we continue to speculate about what Generation 10 will look like for Pokémon, fans are already answering the call. This series is so big at this point that it can’t be contained to just a few releases.
