Paramount Plus’s new TV and movie releases for January 5-11, 2026, include Girl Taken and Coldwater.
Girl Taken debuts on Paramount Plus on January 8, 2026. Co-created by Nessah Muthy, Suzanne Cowie, and David Turpin, the story follows twin sisters Lily and Abby Riser. Their lives dramatically change for the worse after the former is kidnapped by Rick Hansen, a respected local teacher from their quiet rural English town. Lily manages to escape from captivity and Hansen’s abuse years later, but finds herself traumatized and in a world that has moved on without her. Subsequently, Lily, Abby, and their mother, Eve, try to rebuild their lives while also dealing with the terrifying reality of Hansen being at large and determined to control the narrative surrounding his abduction of Lily.
January 9, 2026, brings Coldwater to Paramount+ with Showtime. Starring The Walking Dead’s Andrew Lincoln, the narrative follows a stay-at-home dad, John, who relocates his family to a remote Scottish town after experiencing a personal crisis following a violent playground incident. Following his relocation, he meets his charismatic neighbor, Tommy. However, John realizes Tommy is hiding a particularly dark secret after going through a series of disturbing events.
Also dropping on Paramount Plus this week is Harlan Coben’s Final Twist. The episodes will air from January 7 to January 21 at 10-11 p.m. (ET/PT).
A true crime series, Final Twist is the first time Harlan Coben brings his unique storytelling — which has primarily been in the fictional, scripted space — to unscripted television. Each episode of the series has a one-hour runtime and will see Coben take viewers on a gripping journey through various tales of murder with numerous twists.
