Shock and scandal against a lavish backdrop are all the rage, with the HBO series, Big Little Lies, one of the most successful examples. Starring the eye-catching group of Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Zoë Kravitz, Laura Dern, and Shailene Woodley, this female-led series smashed expectations and became one of HBO’s best shows of recent years. Never ones to miss out on a trend, Netflix has just debuted its own replacement for the series, with the show receiving plenty of praise upon arrival.
Officially debuting on the platform this last Monday, The Hunting Wives promises bloody murder and indulgent luxury in an immersive mystery thriller featuring an impressive central cast. An adaptation of the book of the same name by May Cobb, the series stars Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman and has received plenty of positive praise since its debut. On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes,The Hunting Wives has poached a strong 75% critics’ score at the time of writing, albeit from just eight reviews thus far. Compared to Big Little Lies, The Hunting Wives is underperforming, with the hit HBO series earning a huge 89% from both critics and audiences.
