Jason Bateman’s role as Martin Byrde in Ozark will always be one of the most famous of his career, but now he’s back with a new crime thriller TV series that’s coming soon. Bateman stars alongside Jude Law (Skeleton Crew) and Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road) in Black Rabbit. Ahead of the thriller series’ September 18 release, reviews for Black Rabbit have begun surfacing on the Internet, and the show currently sits at a respectable 86% from critics on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes. This is higher than the four-season average of 82% held by Ozark.
Black Rabbit also served as something of a reunion for Jason Bateman and his Ozark co-star Laura Linney. Linney has been tapped to direct at least two episodes of Black Rabbit, along with Bateman and Justin Kurzel. Kurzel recently worked with Black Rabbit star Jude Law on The Order, the 2024 crime thriller that also features Nicholas Hoult. Both Bateman and Law also have executive producing credits on Black Rabbit, along with creator Zach Baylin. Baylin is best known for writing Will Smith’s Oscar-winner, King Richard, and he even penned Creed III, the boxing movie starring Michael B. Jordan.
Bateman has become one of Netflix’s golden ducks the last few years, for more than just his role in Ozark. Last year, he teamed up with Taron Egerton for the holiday thriller, Carry-On, which went on to become one of the most popular movies in Netflix history. Bateman also recently starred opposite Ben Affleck in Air. As for his Black Rabbit co-star, Jude Law set the world on fire with his performance in Skeleton Crew. Now, he can be seen in Ron Howard’s latest movie, Eden, which is now playing in theaters.
