MobLand Episode 8: Why Did Harry Kill [Spoiler]?

In MobLandepisode 8, titled “Helter Skelter,” Harry shocked viewers by murdering Freddie in cold blood. The twist reveals Freddie had discovered which Harrigan family member was betraying Conrad in the fentanyl operation.

Rather than allowing this information to surface, Harry silenced Freddie permanently, suggesting his rooted loyalty still lies with the Harrigans. Meanwhile, the episode also unveils further twists that redefine character dynamics while escalating the season’s central conflict.

Why did Harry kill Freddie in MobLand Episode 8?

In MobLand, the Harrigan family’s official “fixer,” Harry (Tom Hardy), eliminates threats, and in episode 8, he killed Freddie as the latter knew a secret that could destroy the Harrigan family. Viewers weren’t shown who betrayed Conrad, but fan theories point to insiders with potential ulterior motives: Bella, Kevin, Seraphina, Paul, or Maeve. Each maintains close ties to the family while harboring possible secret agendas.

Bella, Kevin’s wife, tops fan suspicions as the potential mole. Her complicated history with Conrad—including the revelation that her son Eddie might be Conrad’s child—gives her compelling motives. With numerous grudges against the Harrigans, Bella lacks any true obligation to remain loyal to the family.

Another person who has been playing the “dirty” game is Maeve. She purposefully misguided Conrad to kill his closest friend, Archie. The matriarch of the Harrigan household recently tried to conduct a secret treaty with Richie Stevenson that failed miserably.

So, it would make sense that she has been eliminating certain people and causing chaos to divert the attention while quietly getting on top of the Harrigan empire. Speculating about Maeve being a mole, a fan shared on Reddit, “It’s definitely Maeve. She’s already shown she has no qualms about calling Richie to get what she wants; why wouldn’t she call the cops and give them some info that furthers her machinations?”

Kevin and Seraphina could also be moles if they have higher ambitions than their father. From the beginning, Kevin has been dissatisfied with his father’s illogical attempts at waging a war. On the other hand, Seraphina seems to be perpetually eager to prove her position as a true Harrigan.

Most viewers dismiss Harry as the mole given his consistent loyalty. Similarly, Conrad seems unlikely to conduct secret business without family knowledge. Ultimately, the final two episodes of MobLand will determine whose deceitful tactics and grit survive this high-stakes power struggle to emerge victorious.
