Mayor of Kingstown Actor Joins Another Taylor Sheridan Show After Season 4 Death

An actor from Mayor of Kingstownspoke about teaming up with Taylor Sheridan again after wrapping the Paramount+ drama. He reflected on his experience on the series and revealed how it opened the door to a role in Tulsa King.

Lane Garrison to appear in Tulsa King Season 4 after Mayor of Kingstown

Lane Garrison confirmed he will appear in Tulsa King Season 4 following his exit from Mayor of Kingstown. Speaking to TV Insider, the actor revealed that producers informed him about his character’s death and his upcoming move to another Taylor Sheridan project. “They’re like, ‘We’ve got good news and bad news. The bad news is we’re killing you. The good news is we’re gonna find something for you in Tulsa King,’” Garrison said.

In Mayor of Kingstown Season 4, Garrison’s character Carney dies in Episode 2, “Promises to Keep.” A Colombian national linked to an earlier assassination attempt on Bunny (Tobi Bamtefa) kills him shortly after he tends to his father at home. Carney’s death leaves Mike McLusky (Jeremy Renner) facing another loss inside the prison system. Garrison described filming the sequence as emotional, explaining that several crew members teared up during the scene.

The actor said he initially believed Carney’s storyline would expand after Kareem’s (Michael Beach) death. He thought the character would “step into those shoes” and potentially become warden. “In my mind, I thought he was going to become the warden, and that was going to be a whole process through corruption. Obviously, that’s not how it played out,” he said.

Garrison also reflected on his earlier roles and noted the personal significance of returning to a prison-based drama after Prison Break. “To come full circle now to play a guard on the other side and die properly, like a gentleman, and say my goodbyes—that was something I took away more than anything,” he said. He added that he looks forward to reuniting with Mayor of Kingstown co-star Michael Beach on Tulsa King and joked, “If I die, I’m not doing it.”
