On season seven of Love Island USA, Huda Mustafa and Jeremiah Brown coupled up right away. Just as soon as they got together, they started acting closed off. While the women were still picking their initial partners, another islander attempted to kiss Jeremiah, and he turned his head, offering her only a cheek. That’s a pretty absurd level of monogamy on a show that treats making out like a competitive sport. Since they became a couple, they have claimed that they’re not yet closed off, but their actions tell an entirely different story.
Huda Had a Territorial Tantrum
This week, two new bombshells entered the villa in the middle of a challenge. In a very pelvis-forward game of “baseball,” each girl was asked to pick their four favorite boys to writhe around with. Amaya committed the critical error of choosing to Huda’s man, which led to her leaping into his arms, mounting him, and planting a passionate kiss—standard fare for any Love Island challenge. While Jeremiah passively participated, Huda sat in the bleachers, throwing a full-on tantrum. She waved around a pair of middle fingers, snarled, and swatted away the comforting hands of her fellow islanders.
Following the challenge, Huda’s pouting continued. She tearfully turned to the girls for comfort and had no shortage of anger to aim at Amaya. Don’t worry, though—she was quick to clarify that she wasn’t upset with Jeremiah, just the other woman. Classic. Amaya was simply doing what any contestant on Love Island is supposed to do. This is exactly the purpose of a bombshell—a brand new islander free of any allegiances who is meant to shake up established couples and stake out their own spot in the villa.
Jeremiah and Huda Have Red Flags
Huda seems to have some serious pick-me tendencies, which are only amplified by her relationship with Jeremiah. She sees him as the kind of man any woman would want, and the moment he entered the villa, it was Huda he wanted to be with. This has caused her ego to swell up quite a bit, and made her feel superior to the other women in the villa who weren’t wifed up on day one. This attitude nearly sparked a conflict with fellow islander Olandria, but Olandria—as well as the other women in the villa—is far too composed and aware of themselves and the cameras to properly put Huda in her place…for now.
For his part, Jeremiah raises even more red flags. So far, he’s proven himself incapable of having a normal, respectful conversation with any woman besides Huda. While close friendships are starting to form in the villa, Jeremiah hasn’t made much of an effort to get to know anyone else—especially the girls.
His refusal to engage meaningfully with anyone but Huda comes off as calculated—he appears determined to put his head down and coast to the finish line as a couple. Maybe he’s motivated by the money and fame that come with being a main character on Love Island. Or perhaps, he’s chasing a redemption arc.
In his intro package, he confessed to being unfaithful in a past relationship; his hyper-exclusive connection with Huda may be an attempt to prove he can stay loyal, even in an environment designed to turn heads. His good-guy act and unwillingness to interact with other women seem like they’re concealing something sinister. Whatever that might be, it will surely surface at some point this season.
A Crash Out is Coming
Countless obstacles stand between them and a victory at the end of this season. Plenty of bombshells willing to step on toes await their entry into the villa, many more challenges will require them to kiss other islanders, and of course, Casa Amor looms. And their continued isolation from the rest of the villa will come to a head at some point. Whatever it is that throws a wrench in their relationship, prepare to witness one of the more dramatic breakups in Love Island history. It’s not if, it’s when.
Both Huda and Jeremiah seem to be playing a strategic game, but it’s not working as well as they think. They’re forcefully positioning themselves as the strongest couple, though they appear to be the only ones buying it. Audiences across the board dislike them together, and their fellow islanders are growing increasingly fed up with their refusal to actually play the game. Their game plan seems to be building to a big backfire, and when it hits, it’s going to be incredible to watch.
