A new set of Honkai: Star Rail 3.8 leaks has emerged, revealing extra details about a new boss that players will encounter, and it may represent a major lore bomb for one of the game’s most beloved characters. Version 3.8’s beta tests have already started, even before the arrival of the contents planned for Version 3.7, like the end of the Amphoreus story arc or the introduction of Cyrene in Honkai: Star Rail.
These leaks are rather trustworthy, as they come from an early version of the game’s upcoming patch, though the update itself is still highly subject to changes as the tests continue. Even so, there have been important leaks from the patch, such as information about The Dahlia’s kit in Honkai: Star Rail and how she may become a new staple in Firefly team comps, possibly replacing Ruan Mei.

The Enemy Seems Like A SAM Unit
Another set of leaks that has stemmed from the Version 3.8 beta tests is a new boss that you may encounter. According to information provided by the leaker known as Hiragara, which was shared in a post by user LongjumpingBoot3262 on Reddit, a new boss by the codename Sam_01 has been datamined from the next update’s files. In addition to its codename, the leak also provides leaked render images.
The best way to describe the new boss is a SAM armor that has seemingly been affected by the Swarm. This armor-like enemy has a darker metallic color with slight red hues across its body, as well as what seems like a Swarm-like mutation. In the center of its chest is a dark cavity. Overall, it looks like a corrupted version of Firefly in Honkai: Star Rail.
Leaked Boss May Represent A Major Lore Bomb
The New Boss May Be One Of Firefly’s Former Allies
Although this undeniably seems like a SAM unit, it may not be the one donned by Firefly. Alternatively, it could be one of Firefly’s former Iron Cavalry comrades, AR-26710. This character was introduced during The Embers of Glamoth animated short focused on Firefly, shared on the Honkai: Star Rail channel on YouTube. The video shows Firefly with her Iron Cavalry allies before she joined the Stellaron Hunters.
During the video, Firefly and other SAM units fight the Propagation’s Swarm, and one of the SAM units leading the assault with Firefly, AR-26710, gets impaled and injured. They then drop their mask, which is used to explode a Swarm King. AR-26710’s partially exposed faceplate and the hole in the middle of their chest resemble those seen on the leaked boss design for Version 3.8.
It could be that this particular SAM unit wasn’t completely eliminated, but instead transformed into an agent of Propagation by the Swarm King that impaled them. Details about this leaked boss are still scarce, but they will likely represent a major lore bomb for Firefly’s story in Honkai: Star Rail.
