In a show stacked with big personalities and even bigger egos, Ali Larter has become one of Landman’s most unpredictable forces. As Angela Norris — the glamorous, impulsive ex-wife and now fiancée of Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) — Larter’s performance has sparked plenty of conversation, and she knows exactly why.
While some fans initially expected Landman to stay locked into oil deals, cartels, and corporate power plays, Season 2 made it clear that Taylor Sheridan is just as interested in the family chaos orbiting Tommy’s world. And according to Larter, that balance isn’t going anywhere.
Speaking on the Critics Choice red carpet, Larter addressed what viewers should — and shouldn’t — expect from Season 3, making it clear that Sheridan has a very specific rhythm in mind.
“Taylor keeps things very under wraps. He definitely leaned into the family this year, but we know the tones of our show. He knows when he wants Angela to come in and deliver a laugh, a breath of fresh comedy, and then move into other dramatic scenes. So, I don’t think the formula is going to change. We’re back, Season 3, here we go.”
Is ‘Landman’ Season 2 Worth Watching?
Collider’s review of the show noted that Landman‘s second season was hinting at forward progress but without carving out a clear identity within Taylor Sheridan’s increasingly crowded TV slate. It also praised the performances of Thornton, Larter, Demi Moore and Andy Garcia, summarising that, while new storylines raise the stakes, but many characters remain frustratingly unchanged.
“Season 2 of Landman is ultimately showing signs of more promise after its first three episodes, with Moore already delivering a strong performance for a complex character. While Garcia’s still at the “mysterious character with hidden motives” point in the series, his presence is also clearly felt. Between his inclusion and a big new narrative for Cooper, there are considerable opportunities for raised stakes, character growth, and fresh drama. It’s impossible to say what Landman‘s true trajectory will be this season, but it’s already a bit closer to a well that hits than it was the first time around. Now, it just has to stick the landing.”
