Kit Harington and Mark Wahlberg Face Off in New ‘The Family Plan 2’ Image [Exclusive]

As the saying goes — ‘tis the season for more Mark Wahlberg. On November 21, the two-time Academy Award-nominated actor returns to one of his most beloved roles in The Family Plan 2. With a brand-new story penned by returning scribe David Coggeshall, the next chapter in the Simon Cellan Jones-helmed franchise brings the Morgan family back to screens courtesy of Apple TV. Today, as part of Collider’s Exclusive Previewevent, we’ve got a brand-new look at the action that awaits audiences when they reunite with the family at the center of the story on their European getaway.

In 2023, Apple TV subscribers were first introduced to Dan Morgan (Wahlberg) and the rest of his family in The Family Plan. Everyone in Dan’s life knew him as a family man and a car salesman, but under the surface, he was hiding an entirely separate and distant life. As his family would come to learn, Dan used to be a covert government assassin, and his past came back to haunt him and the rest of the Morgan clan in the debut film that saw them go on a high-stakes mission together. Now, the whole family is back in the sequel, which will follow the crew as they visit one of their own — Zoe Colletti’s (Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark) Nina — who is living abroad. Unfortunately, their glad tidings and merry holiday visit will be cut short after a threat from Dan’s past comes back into the picture.

In our exclusive first look, tensions appear to be on the rise between Wahlberg’s Dan and a new character named Aidan, who will be played by none other than Game of Thrones star Kit Harington. From what we know, the two men have some shared history that will come out of the woodwork in the sequel and will lead to a large amount of confrontation. In today’s image, it looks like they’re attempting to talk through their issues before throwing punches at one another. Not only will Wahlberg and Colletti return for the follow-up film, but Michelle Monaghan (The White Lotus) and Van Crosby (Splitting Up Together) will also reprise their roles as Dan’s wife and family matriarch, Jessica Morgan, and middle child, Kyle Morgan, respectively.

‘The Family Plan’s Rise to the Top

When it was first released, The Family Plan quickly rose to the top of the streamer’s chart, where it’s largely stayed over the last two years. Thanks to it’s quiet and consistent success on the streamer, the sequel was given the green light, with the studios backing it, hoping that the fans will turn up to stream the Christmas-themed movie in time for the holidays.
