Jill Scott is officially back. The three-time Grammy Award–winning artist has announced her sixth studio album, To Whom This May Concern, set for release on February 13 via Human Re Sources and The Orchard. The project marks Scott’s first full-length studio album in nearly 10 years.
The album’s lead single, “Beautiful People,” is available now on streaming platforms, signaling a return that leans into human connection with an emotional clarity that has long defined Scott’s work. Her voice remains one of the most soulful of the era, lending itself a warm embrace for the album which frames itself as a reflection on humanity, presence, and the power of showing up with honesty and love.
To Whom This May Concern arrives following a milestone period in Scott’s career. In 2025, she celebrated the 20th anniversary of her landmark debut, Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1, an album that helped redefine modern soul and earned her a Grammy Award. That celebration culminated in a sold-out North American anniversary tour, reinforcing the lasting resonance of her catalog and the intimacy of her relationship with audiences.
The new album features a wide-ranging slate of collaborators, including Ab-Soul, J.I.D., Tierra Whack, and Too $hort, alongside production from Adam Blackstone, Om’Mas Keith, DJ Premier, Camper, Andre Harris, Seige Monstracity, Trombone Shorty, and others. The mix reflects Scott’s collaborative instincts and her comfort moving across generations and myriad sounds, without losing her core identity.
Visually, the project is anchored by artwork created by acclaimed artist Marcellus, whose imagery helped shape the album’s emotional tone. The artwork mirrors the record’s spirit and is rooted in storytelling, reinforcing Scott’s long-standing fusion of music, poetry, and visual language.
Beyond music, Scott remains a formidable presence across multiple creative fields. In addition to her recording career, she is a bestselling author and an accomplished actor, with screen credits ranging from Why Did I Get Married? to Get On Up and a recent guest appearance on Abbott Elementary. Her return to music, however, feels especially significant—not as a comeback, but as a continuation.
With To Whom This May Concern, Jill Scott re-enters the album conversation on her own terms, offering a body of work shaped by experience and artistic intention, and reminding listeners why her voice continues to matter.
