James Wan and Paramount join supernatural forces as they relaunch the Paranormal Activity franchise, and they finally set a release date.
The studio has an untitled sequel scheduled for release on May 21, 2027, finally bringing the hit horror film series back to the big screen. The project will be produced by Paramount, Wan and another horror icon, Jason Blum, under their joint Blumhouse-Atomic Monster banner. The creator of the first Paranormal Activity film will also produce through his company, Solana Films.
The original Paranormal Activity circled that film festival circuit in 2007 and was released in theaters in 2009. The hit horror film was initially made on a modest $15,000 budget. However, Paramount acquired it and invested an additional $200,000 to change the ending. The movie became an overnight sensation and ended up grossing $194 million worldwide.
