Superman has passed an enormous box office milestone. The 2025 superhero movie was directed by James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker) and is the first installment in the newly rebranded DC Universe.
2025’s Superman follows billionaire Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) using every tactic in his power to defame Superman (David Corenswet) and turn the public against the hero. The movie also stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, as of Thursday morning, Superman has officially passed the $300 million milestone at the domestic box office, becoming only the fourth release of 2025 to do so, behind Jurassic World Rebirth, Lilo & Stitch, and A Minecraft Movie.
It is the first DC Comics movie to pass that milestone in three years, after 2022’s The Batman. Additionally, it is only the ninth DC movie to ever gross more than $300 million domestically, after The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Joker, and The Batman.
More to come…
