Following the twist-filled season 1 finale, Pennywise’s return is all but officially confirmed for IT: Welcome to Derry season 2 at HBO.
Though HBO has yet to make an official announcement, a new report from The Hollywood Reporter reveals thatIT: Welcome to Derry season 2 is currently in the works. This news comes over a month after some shocking turns in the season 1 finale on December 14, which concludes with a title card calling it “Welcome to Derry: Chapter One.” However, as this chapter in Pennywise’s reign of terror on Derry comes to a close, all can rest assured that more is coming as Welcome to Derry travels back further into the sinister entity and town’s history.
The apparent season 2 renewal brings the creators one step closer to fulfilling their multiseason intentions for the series. The showrunners and the Muschiettis have previously revealed that the plan for IT: Welcome to Derry includes three seasons focusing on a different era of Pennywise’s attacks on and Derry, with season 1 depicting 1962, season 2 being set in 1935, and season 3 diving into 1908.
