It’s been two years since Disney confirmed a third trip to Salem was in the works following the success of Hocus Pocus 2, yet the Sanderson sisters’ brooms remain grounded, according to Sarah Jessica Parker. During her appearance on Andy Cohen‘s Watch What Happens Live on Sunday, the star provided a rare update on the witchy threequel when answering a viewer question from two London-based fans. The good news is that the film is still happening, with Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy likely to reprise their roles alongside her. However, there’s been little movement since the initial announcement, meaning viewers won’t be seeing the Sandersons again anytime soon.
“No more developments, other than we would like to do it,” Parker said during the show. As far as where the film was in the development process, she reiterated that, “We would like to do it, and we’ve been having some conversations.” Her update comes a full year after her co-star Midler teased that she had “heard rumblings” about Hocus Pocus 3, even though a script had yet to arrive on her desk. Little is known about what comes next for the trio of sisters, other than that the story is once again coming from Jen D’Angelo, who penned the 2022 sequel to the ’90s classic and more recently co-wrote the screenplay to Totally Killer.
