Peacock has released a great trailer for the spy thriller series PONIES, starring Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones, Secret Invasion) and Haley Lu Richardson (Five Feet Apart, The White Lotus), with Adrian Lester, Artjom Gilz, Nicholas Podany, Petro Ninovskyi, and Vic Michaelis.
The show is created and written by Susanna Fogel and David Iserson, and is showrun by Iserson and Mike Daniels, with episodes directed by Susanna Fogel (The Spy Who Dumped Me, Winner).
The synopsis reads: “Set in Moscow, 1977. Two ‘PONIES’ (“persons of no interest” in intelligence speak) work anonymously as secretaries in the American Embassy.
“That is until both of their husbands are killed under mysterious circumstances in the USSR, and the pair become CIA operatives. Bea (Emilia Clarke) is an over-educated, Russian-speaking child of Soviet immigrants.
“Her cohort, Twila (Haley Lu Richardson), is a small-town girl who is as abrasive as she is fearless. Together, they work to uncover a vast Cold War conspiracy and solve the mystery that made them widows in the first place.”
This series looks intriguing, funny at times, and like it will tell a great story. Check out the trailer below, and watch PONIES when it debuts on Peacock on January 15th.
