General Hospital’s Rory Gibson on if Michael & Jacinda’s Romance Is Possible

Fans of General Hospital have been debating lately about the unexpected spark between Michael Corinthos and Jacinda Bracken. What started as a deal with Jacinda helping Michael build an alibi after Drew Cain’s shooting, now has fans wondering if there’s more to it. Rory Gibson, who plays Michael, has recently addressed questions about whether this on-screen chemistry might turn into a full-blown romance.

Rory Gibson talks Michael and Jacinda’s romance possibility on General Hospital

Gibson recently addressed Michael and Jacinda’s romance possibility on General Hospital.

In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Gibson said, “I think [Michael and Jacinda’s romance] definitely works [on screen] and behind the scenes, I know a couple of people on set who are like, ‘Oh, I hope this works out, there’s a little something there!’” He added, “And I’ve been hearing similar things [are being said] online because I have a couple of friends who stay on top of that stuff and let me know what’s going on. People seem really into it!”

Gibson didn’t make any promises about the duo’s future. But he stated that fans probably want to see Michael in love and would perhaps support any pairing, noting, “Michael and Jacinda definitely have chemistry, but it also seems like people just really want Michael to have some love in his life!”

Further, the GH actor also spoke warmly about his co-star Paige Herschell, who plays Jacinda. “Paige is just incredible. She is just a great actress, and…a very, very kind person,” he stated. Describing her as “very real,” he said she was easy to connect with from the very start.

Meanwhile, Herschell gave her own take on their possible romance on screen last month. While talking to Soap Opera Digest, she said there’s definitely a mix of motives in Jacinda’s actions.

“[Jacinda] can be money-motivated and also, there could be some chemistry there — and I think there is,” Herschell said. “I think with Jacinda, we’re quickly seeing that she has a bit of a sweeter side to [balance] her manipulative side… We’ll see where it goes,” she added.

She also gave Gibson props for being such a “grounded” scene partner, saying his calm energy makes it easy for them to “connect and play” during shoots.

The storyline itself makes a possible romance between Michael and Jacinda believable. Michael used Jacinda as his alibi the night Drew got shot. And now, the two are pretending to be a couple to keep that cover story alive in Port Charles. This fake setup seems to be slowly turning into something that looks like a real romance. Now it remains to be seen whether the makers actually make them a couple on the show.
