In an interview with TV Insider, Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten, co-writers of General Hospital, shared brief information about some of the storylines coming in 2026 and how they would affect the future of the show.
“Drew’s shooter is revealed as Willow’s trial climaxes,” they revealed, adding, “The verdict and its fallout will reverberate for years to come.”
This statement may come as a relief to the viewers because the soap opera has kept the mystery behind Drew’s shooter unresolved for several months now. While the writers did not specify exactly when the reveal will occur, the fact that the trial is already underway suggests the storyline will reach its climax soon.
Currently, Willow, Michael, and Portia are the main suspects. Could it be one of them or someone else entirely? That has yet to be seen.
Interestingly, the writers have also confirmed Maxie’s return. They said, “Maxie will return in 2026! Her slumber wasn’t nearly as long as Lulu’s, but she’ll find her world much changed when she finally wakes up.”
Maxie Jones slipped into a comatose state in August of this year and has remained off-screen since. Kirsten Storms, who plays the character, stepped away from the show to tend to her medical issues. During her absence, her on-screen love interest, Nathan West, made a shocking return from the dead.
Meanwhile, Nathan and Lulu, Maxie’s best friend, have grown closer, hinting at a possible new love story. So, when Maxie returns to General Hospital, viewers can expect to see a dramatic new love triangle.
