As the MCU builds its sixth phase, and the DCU moves deeper into its first, there’s no shortage of shows for fans to watch. From animated adventures to live-action epics, it’s a good time to love superheroes. But keeping track of everything that is coming in the next few years, and separating the truth from unsubstantiated rumors, can be tough.
While there’s sure to be projects that no one outside the Marvel and DC Studios offices is aware of yet, both companies have let audiences in on some big shows that are in the works. A few have already been shown off with trailers or first looks, while others have only been discussed in the loosest of terms. Still, we know that Marvel and DC fans have plenty to look forward to.
Wonder Man
Set to premiere January 27, 2026, Wonder Man stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as the titular hero, with Ben Kingsley reprising his role as Trevor Slattery. The series looks to take aim at the superhero movie genre, presenting Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, an actor who is cast in a remake of a 1970s Wonder Man film franchise.
A long-time member of the Avengers in the comics, Wonder Man has a history spoofing movies and TV shows. When he isn’t saving the world, the superhero uses his powers to make action blockbusters. Fans can expect show creators Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest to play up this angle. And if Cretton’s work on Shang-Chi and American Born Chinese is any indication, the action in Wonder Man will be some of the best we’ve seen from MCU TV.
Lanterns
Long in development, DC’s Green Lantern Corps will finally get a second shot with audiences when Lanterns premieres sometime around the summer of 2026 (no specific date has been given yet). The series will focus on veteran Green Lantern Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and rookie John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) as they work a case in Nebraska.
Created by TV veterans Chris Mundy (Ozark, True Detective), Damon Lindelof (LOST, Watchmen), and comics writer Tom King (Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Helen of Wyndhorn), Lanterns has been described as a grounded crime drama, but we’re sure to see some ring slinging as well.
Waller
One of the first DCU projects announced, Waller, a spin-off of Peacemaker, appears to have hit some roadblocks, but is still in development. The series, which will star Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, was originally going to serve as an overview of the DCU before Superman hit theaters, but the 2023 strikes put things on hold.
Christal Henry and Jeremy Carver, who have been attached as co-showrunners from the start, continue to work on Waller. Along with Davis returning as Waller, the series will also feature Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Steve Agee and John Economous, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo. When the series will go into production remains to be seen.
Blue Beetle
While the Blue Beetle movie failed to turn a profit at the box office, the overall reaction to the movie was positive, and with good reason.
Xolo Maridueña was perfectly cast as Jaime Reyes, and the movie itself was fun, heartfelt, and had plenty of action. Clearly, James Gunn felt the same, as he quickly announced that MaridueƱa would continue to play Blue Beetle in the new DCU.
A Blue Beetle animated series has been in the works since 2024, and MaridueƱa has suggested that fans could see the show in 2026. Whether or not anyone else from the Blue Beetle movie will appear in the animated series remains to be seen, but considering how much audiences loved the Reyes family, it would be surprising if we don’t see them again.
VisionQuest
Spinning out of WandaVision, Marvel’s VisionQuest follows the newly created version of Vision as he tries to deal with the memories of the previous model. Paul Bettany returns as Vision, and will be joined by James Spader once again playing Ultron, Todd Stashwick as Paladin, T’Nia Miller as Jocasta, and Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy Maximoff.
VisionQuest will include a number of Marvel’s androids and AI beings, suggesting that the series will delve into the ultimate question that Vision presented all the way back in Avengers: Age of Ultron: are these beings alive? The series is being overseen by Terry Matalas, who received a huge amount of acclaim for his work on Picard season 3.
Untitled Jimmy Olsen Series
Originally rumored as a series with the terrible title of DC Crime, the actually as-yet-untitled Jimmy Olsen series is indeed in the works, with the creators of Netflix’s American Vandal signed on to create it. Aside from Skyler Gisondo reprising his role as Jimmy Olsen, everything else is just rumors.
Described as a spoof on true crime documentaries, Gorilla Grodd will supposedly be the main focus, and other Daily Planet employees will pop up. But beyond that, nothing is known for sure. If the series is half as good as American Vandal, or Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda’s other series, Players, then it should be a hilarious show.
Paradise Lost
Another DC series that has been long in the making, Paradise Lost will explore the history of Themyscira, the island Wonder Woman comes from. Aside from that, there’s no definitive information for fans to grab on to. We don’t even know who is working on the series.
At this point, Paradise Lost is in early development and has not been greenlit. In July 2025, it was announced that Ana Nogueira is writing the Wonder Woman movie, which may affect plans for Paradise Lost. Hopefully, more information about Paradise Lost will come to light soon.
Booster Gold
One of the most interesting characters from DC Comics, a Booster Gold series has been in the works for a while, and appears to be a project James Gunn really wants to reach fruition. The series lost its original showrunner, The Righteous Gemstones creator Danny McBride, but Booster Gold has found a new champion in David Jenkins, creator of Our Flag Means Death.
In the comics, Booster Gold is a washed-up football player from the 25th-century who steals tech from the Metropolis Space Museum and time-travels to the current day in the hopes of making a name for himself during the age of heroes. Unlike other heroes, Booster happily lends his name to companies, as long as the pay is good. Kumail Nanjiani has long been rumored to play Booster Gold, but Gunn has been quick to deny it.
Untitled Punisher Special
Coming out of Daredevil: Born Again season 1, and reportedly airing before his appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the Untitled Punisher Special will see Jon Bernthal reprising his role as Marvel’s deadliest vigilante. While the special has been filmed, little else is known about the plot at this time.
Bernthal clearly takes playing Punisher seriously and came up with the story on the set of Daredevil: Born Again. He then co-wrote it with Reinaldo Marcus Green, who is also directing the special. Whatever the story is, fans can be sure that it will be violent. Marvel greenlit the special with the intention of receiving a TV-MA rating.
Mister Miracle
Based on the comic series by Tom King and Mitch Gerads, Mister Miracle will be an animated series, with King acting as showrunner and Gerads working on the animation side. At this point, it isn’t clear if Mister Miracle will take place in the DCU proper or if it will be an Elseworlds show.
If it closely follows the story of the comic, Mister Miracle will see the titular character working to balance his life as a superhero, a famous escape artist, and a family man, all while dealing with the trauma of being raised on Apokolips. King and Gerads received endless critical acclaim for the series, which means the animated series has a lot to live up to.
