Forget Prime Video’s ’Rings of Power’ There’s An All New ‘Lord of the Rings’ Project to Anticipate

The world created by J.R.R. Tolkien is so incredibly detailed and nuanced that it might be virtually impossible to adapt every single aspect and crevice of the story. Prime Video has sought to focus on the Second Age of Middle-earth with its fantasy series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. It comes on the back of the famed and critically acclaimed Lord of the Ringstrilogy and The Hobbitmovies by Peter Jackson. However, fans can look beyond those works as a new niche project focused on Saruman the White (would be tyrant), is coming soon.

The new Lord of the Rings project has Free League Publishing announcing Hands of the White Wizard, a new adventure anthology for The One Ring. This all-new adventure is set to be published as Trials of Sarumanfor The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying Game, the 5E version of The One Ring. As the title has clearly stated, the new anthology will focus on Saruman, the wizard whose tower is famous the world over — Isengard. The anthology is set to feature six adventures, spanning between 2965 of the Third Age and the beginning of the War of the Ring (which was expertly captured in Jackson’s original trilogy). Pre-orders for the adventures are available now, with a PDF available immediately. However, no physical release date has been announced yet.

A New Adventure Is Coming for ‘Lord of the Rings’ Enthusiasts

A third season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is in development at Prime Video, and it’s nice to see that there’s still a place for the franchise in gaming following one recent disapointing development. This latest Lord of the Rings update comes on the back of Amazon’s decision to sink an MMORPG that was being developed by Amazon Games in partnership with the Embracer Group. The game was said to be an entirely new experience, but was a casualty of Amazon’s newest corporate restructuring. However, as for Hands of the White Wizard, the full description of the books is as follows:

“Set between 2965 and the opening moves of the War of the Ring, these adventures invite players to serve, observe, or challenge Saruman the White at the height of his wisdom and the edge of his corruption. Once a counselor to kings and master of Ring-lore, Saruman now rules from Isengard, a bastion of knowledge and power where the first cracks of pride begin to show. The treason of Isengard has not yet begun, but its seeds are sown. The question is whether his downfall is inevitable or if the courage of heroes can still change his fate and the fate of Middle-earth itself.”

Hands of the White Wizard and Trials of Saruman will contain a number of key features, which include Serve or Spy.Here you decide whether your heroes will aid the White Wizard or uncover the secrets he keeps. Next, Six Adventures Across an Era. Here one gets tofollow Saruman’s path from counselor and scholar to would-be tyrant, spanning the years 2965 to the War of the Ring. Thirdly, Lore of Isengard, where one discovers new allies, foes, and mysteries within Orthanc and the valley of Nan Curunír.
