Fans Of Slow Horses Already Have A New Thriller Replacement Show To Watch On Apple TV

Sadly, Slow Horses is on hiatus following the finale of its fifth season in late October, but the good news is that Apple TV already has the best next show for fans. The streaming service has renewed the British spy thriller series through its seventh season. As such, viewers can expect a lot more of Slow Horses in the future.

Since Slow Horses season 5 ended on October 29, 2025, though, meaning it will likely be a year before season 6 (which will adapt Mick Herron’s books, Joe Country and Slough House) premieres. The show typically has a one-year hiatus between seasons. In the meantime, fans can check out similar TV series, including one that is now airing on Apple TV.

Slow Horses Fans Should Watch Down Cemetery Road On Apple TV

After watching the Slow Horses season 5 finale, audiences should turn their attention to Down Cemetery Road. The Apple TV series serves as the perfect replacement for Gary Oldman’s popular show, seeing as they are both British thrillers. They aren’t exactly the same, of course, but viewers will get the same addictive rush watching Down Cemetery Road that they do with Slow Horses.

Additionally, Down Cemetery Road has a notable cast just like Slow Horses talented lineup. Emma Thompson stars as Zoë Boehm, a private investigator who commits herself to solving an arson and missing persons case when a woman (Sarah Tucker, played by Ruth Wilson) enlists her help. The house explosion was labeled as a tragic accident, but the mystery is much more complex than that.

Down Cemetery Road Has Another Connection With Slow Horses

The Apple TV Show Isn’t An Original Story

In addition to Down Cemetery Road being a British thriller TV series with an impressive cast, its source material shares something (or rather, someone) in common with Slow Horses. As many know, every season of Slow Horses is based on a book from Mick Herron’s Slough House series. Meanwhile, Down Cemetery Road is an adaptation of Herron’s 2003 novel of the same name.

Down Cemetery Road‘s creator, Morwenna Banks, is also a writer for Slow Horses. Because of Herron and Banks’ connections to both shows, Slow Horses and Down Cemetery Road contain similar tones and captivating stories. Simply put, the Apple TV thriller (which just so happened to premiere the same day as Slow Horses‘ season 5 finale) is a worthwhile watch for those who love Oldman’s series.

Apple TV releases new episodes of Down Cemetery Road on Wednesdays. It will run for eight episodes, with its finale premiering on Wednesday, December 10.
