Despite facing child abuse charges, Timothy Busfield has been seen unaccompanied and out in public while his court case is still ongoing. Recent pictures have shown the 68-year-old walking from his expensive New Mexico Airbnb, where he has been staying during the ongoing trial.
The judge has allowed Busfield to walk free for the time being and even allowed him to return to his own home under supervision. The actor was snapped by a TMZ source, and theyshared the images. He was seen wearing all black and heading into a limo from his manor-like Airbnb home. His teary wife waved from the door.
At present, Busfield faces charges of abusing two children on the set of The Cleaning Lady. A set of twins came forward, claiming the actor touched them inappropriately outside their clothes on two occasions. According to the initial report from one child, it happened when the boy was 7 and again at 8. His twin claims similar abuse.
A video released by Busfield before he went to court claims that there is no truth to the allegations, and he maintains his innocence. However, recordings obtained by police and taken by the child’s therapist show the child speaking about the alleged abuse. The children said they didn’t say anything before because they feared the repercussions.
Busfield continues to fight his case, and his attorneys have brought forward recordings in which the boys admit that the actor didn’t actually touch them in private areas. Busfield’s attorneys are arguing that the boy’s parents are using the court case as a revenge ploy after they were cut from the final season of the show.
However, more witnesses are being brought forward, and the case continues. For now, however, Busfield is being allowed to return home under supervision. On January 20, the judge ruled that the actor was not a danger to society. He has been allowed to continue with a slightly more normal life until the court case progresses.
Currently, it is still unclear whether Busfield abused the children as they and their parents claim, or if it was simply an act of revenge by angry parents. There are still many days left of his trial, and numerous witnesses and testimonies to be heard. For now, the actor will be allowed to return home.
However, a mark on someone’s name like this can make returning to normal life very difficult. Even when names are cleared, the damage done can last years.
