Emotions Are High As Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Anson Mount & Others Say Goodbye

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is over as the series has officially wrapped, with Anson Mount, Paul Wesley, and the show’s key creatives sharing emotional goodbyes. The fifth and final season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has completedfilming its final 6 episodes in Toronto before the Christmas holidays.

Paramount+ renewed Star Trek: Strange New Worlds for a shortened final season when Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 premiered in June. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 completed filming in July and is expected to premiere in 2026, with Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 5 to follow in 2027 on Paramount+.

On his Instagram, Anson Mount, who played Captain Christopher Pike, fittingly gave a final farewell to Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Sharing a photo of Captain Pike’s empty ready room, Mount announced that “at approximately 11:15pm EST, the last “cut” was called by Mr. Akiva Goldsman. Many tears were shed…”

Anson also spoke about his pride in his work and what he learned as an actor and a leader working on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. See Mount’s post below:

On Friday, December 19th, an emotional Anson Mount shared this video of touring the empty sets of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds for the last time:

Also on Friday, Paul Wesley shared this Instagram story about his last day on the set of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds:

Producing director Chris Fisher, who earlier shared his own emotional video sharing goodbye to Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, posted this photo of the last time the main cast wastogether on the bridge of the Starship Enterprise:

Writer and producer Bill Wolkoff, who penned some of Star Trek: Strange New Worldsbest episodes, including co-writing the fan-favorite crossover with Star Trek: Lower Decks, announced the series’ wrap:

Throughout the past week, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds cast members, including Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Martin Quinn, and Jess Bush, announced that they have series wrapped on Instagram.

Anson Mount and Paul Wesley, possibly being the last two actors to film on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, could mean that the final moment captured is the passing of the torch as Captain Pike turns over command of the USS Enterprise to Captain James T. Kirk.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds season 3 cast

For the cast and crew, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ ‘five-year mission’ is over, and what happens next is unclear. There’s no news on whether executive producers and co-showrunners wish for a spinoff starring Paul Wesley as Captain Kirk, dubbed Star Trek: Year One, will happen on Paramount+.

For audiences, however, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds still has two more seasons to come on Paramount+. Filming so far in advance means Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has banked 16 new episodes that will keep the Starship Enterprise flying, even as the cast and crew move on to new adventures.
