This weekend is your last chance to binge Quentin Tarantino’s acclaimed Western series on Netflix before it leaves the platform for good. Originally released as a feature film, this star-studded 2015 Western epic was re-released as a 4-part Netflix series in 2019 and now only has days left on the streamer.
As a Tarantino masterpiece, this series/movie combines several genres, including Western, crime thriller, whodunnit mystery, and period piece drama. It also features one of the greatest casts in any of Tarantino’s works, led by Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Tim Roth, and the late Michael Madsen.
The Hateful Eight Extended Cut Leaves Netflix This Weekend
The 4-part extended cut of Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight will officially be leaving Netflix on Monday, January 26, making this weekend the last chance to enjoy the one-of-a-kind series. The 2015 original film will also be removed from Netflix on the same day.
The Hateful Eight: Extended Cut adds roughly 26 additional minutes to the original film’s 2-hour, 47-minute runtime, resulting in four total episodes, each ranging from 50 to 56 minutes long. The story in both the film and series remains the same, following two bounty hunters who seek shelter from a winter storm in a remote cabin in the post-Civil War Wyoming Territory.
The Hateful Eight was nominated for 3 Oscars, winning for Best Original Score by renowned Italian composer Ennio Morricone, known for his legendary work on spaghetti Western classics like A Fistful of Dollars, Once Upon a Time in the West, and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. The music and the performances are two of the biggest highlights of the film, which remarkably takes place inside the cabin for most of its lengthy runtime.
Binge The Hateful Eight Series On Netflix Before It’s Gone
The Hateful Eight: Extended Cut is one of several shows set to leave Netflix this month, including the beloved crime thriller Prison Break. Because there’s such a limited time left to binge the series or watch the film, The Hateful Eight: Extended Cut is one of the best shows to binge-watch on Netflix this weekend.
It’s fair to say that The Hateful Eight is not among the Top 3, or even Top 5, of Tarantino’s works, considering he’s made so many prolific movies over the last three decades. That said, like a Christopher Nolan or David Fincher project, it’s still made with a signature passion and expertise that can only be imitated. The Hateful Eight: Extended Cut actually works better than the film as a 4-part series, so don’t miss your chance to binge it on Netflix before it’s gone.
