Prison Break Leaves Netflix On January 30 – What It’s About
Prison Break will be leaving Netflix on January 30, 2026. Often considered one of the best prison dramas of the 21st century, the series features a gripping premise that sends Michael Scofield, played by Wentworth Miller, behind bars with a masterplan to break his brother Lincoln Burrows, played by Dominic Purcell, out of prison.
Michael believes that Lincoln is innocent of the crime for which he was found guilty to have committed and was ultimately framed for murder. His last-ditch effort to save his brother’s life is to help him escape, even though he’s mostly held in solitary confinement on death row. Against all odds, Michael has to outsmart the guards, warden, and even other inmates to do the unthinkable – break Lincoln out.
Prison Break Is Worth Binge-Watching While There’s Still Time
Despite being released 21 years ago, Prison Break has found a modern streaming resurgence for viewers looking for a nostalgic binge, especially on Netflix. The series was added to Netflix back in July 2024, where it became a top trending hit once again. Due to expired licensing agreements between Disney and Netflix, Prison Break will now only be available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu.
If you have Disney+, then there’s no immediate need to watch Prison Break this week while you still can, but Netflix subscribers without an active Disney+ or Hulu subscription only have a limited time to enjoy this immersive and thrilling series. Prison Break’s original four seasons left such a legacy that a 2017 sequel series was also produced.
Due to its modern success on Netflix, Disney is developing a reboot of the Prison Break series with a new cast, including Lukas Gage (Euphoria), Margo Martindale (Poker Face), Lili Taylor (American Crime), and Emily Browning (American Horror Stories).
