It’s been over a month since Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castleentered theaters in the U.S., and recently, it has surpassed one of the biggest fantasy films of 2025. After generating over $659 million at the global box office, it has overtaken Dreamworks’ live-action adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon, thus becoming the 5th highest-grossing film of 2025.
The 2025 adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon first premiered during CinemaCon back in April 2025, before it entered theaters on June 13, 2025, generating over $635 million, which is around $200 million more than its 2010 animated counterpart. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle taking over its place on the box office charts makes the anime film’s next target Jurassic World Rebirth‘s $886 million.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle marks the first film adaptation of the anime’s Final Battle arc, where the Demon Slayer Corps goes up against Muzan and his demon army. The movie features the series’ beloved voice actors, including Zach Aguilar as Tanjiro Kamado, Aleks Le as Zenitsu Agatsuma, Bryce Papenbrook as Inosuke Hashibira, and Lucien Dodge as Akaza. How Successful Is ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle’?
Before Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle entered the Western market, it had already made massive strides in Japan, as it’s currently the country’s 2nd highest-grossing film, just under Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train. It managed to beat the domestic box office records of these Japanese heavy hitters, such as Spirited Away and Your Name, and international giants like Titanic and Frozen.
Immediately after Infinity Castle entered the U.S., the feature became the highest-grossing anime film of all time in the country. Its opening weekend earnings of $33 million broke a record that was previously set by Pokémon: The First Movie in 1999, and surpassed box office records made by Marvel Studios, James Gunn‘s Superman, and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. This feature has become a massive success, and Crunchyroll has confirmed that it won’t be entering streaming platforms in 2025. Additionally, Demon Slayer’s follow-up films have a speculative release date of 2027 and 2029, so it’s going to be a while for fans to see what happens next.
