Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 may have had some bumps in the road during its initial development, but to say the MCU reboot of one of Marvel’s most beloved characters was a resounding success would be a huge understatement. The Disney+ reboot seamlessly reintroduced The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen in a major way, and it left the door well-open for a very exciting Season 2. If it’s one thing fans are hoping for, it’s an even bigger connection to the massively beloved Defenders Saga shows that aired on Netflix. That’s set to happen thanks to the very welcome return of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, but fans can also expect to see a lot more of Deborah Ann Woll‘s Karen Page.
Following the first footage of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 being screened at New York Comic Con, Collider’s own Maggie Lovitt had the opportunity to catch up with series star Charlie Coxto see what’s in story for the show’s future (especially considering the show has already been renewed for Season 3). More specifically, Lovitt asked Cox for a status update on “Karedevil” — the ship name for Matt Murdock and Karen Page, who were a couple in Season 2 of the original Daredevil series. While Cox didn’t outright say if Karen and Matt’s romantic spark will be rekindled in Season 2, he did say that the two are “reliant on one another,” especially now that New York City is under the complete authoritarian control of Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio):
“They are reliant on one another, and they are in hiding and trying to do whatever they can as part of the resistance to in some way fight back against this regime and Mayor Fisk. At night, I think they go out, and they try to ruffle feathers and do anything they can to kind of find a crack in the armor. But then, of course, during the day, there’s a lot of hours where they’re just waiting, and luckily they like each other.”
Cox also teased that Karen Page will be getting in on the action this season, which the teaser trailer seemed to hint at too.
Karen and Matt Are Just Two Parts of a Wider Love Triangle
Lovitt further pressed Cox on a key moment in Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 when Matt notices a change in Karen’s heartbeat after the mention of his longtime best frenemy, Frank Castle, AKA The Punisher (Jon Bernthal). The moment reignited the long-standing love triangle debate between whether Matt or Frank would be a better romantic partner for Karen, and Cox himself confirmed he “liked” that moment quite a bit even if he didn’t let slip any spoilers against either pairing’s future. While Karen has been mainly tied to Daredevil in the past, she also was a key player in the show’s The Punisher spin-off, and there was undeniably some romantic tension between Frank and Karen. It isn’t currently explicitly clear if Jon Bernthal will play The Punisher again in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, but those hoping to see everyone’s favorite murderous vigilante need not worry. Not only is Bernthal set to return for his very own Disney+ special, but he’ll also be sharing the screen with Tom Holland‘s Peter Parker in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is set to debut sometime in March 2026. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
