The coolest new feature introduced by Cyberpunk 2077‘s 2.3 update is also its least functional. After a brief delay, Cyberpunk‘s latest update was released last week, on July 17, 2025. Bringing the game up to version 2.3, it introduced several new features, including four new vehicles, new customization options, new graphical settings, and even more.
While it hasn’t been everyone’s favorite update, Cyberpunk 2.3 is undeniably a big one, with lots of new stuff to explore no matter how you slice it. Unfortunately, one of its biggest new features is totally broken – but it’s not all that bad.
Delamain AutoDrive Doesn’t Always Work In Cyberpunk 2077
Crashing All The Way
One of the more interesting new features introduced in Cyberpunk 2.3 is AutoDrive, which allows every vehicle in the game to drive you automatically to your destination. Run by the beloved taxi AI Delamain, AutoDrive is a convenient mechanic that Associate Game Director Paweł Sasko referred to, during the 2.3 livestream, as “a more relaxing way” to get around.
To activate AutoDrive, hold H (on PC) or the left stick (on consoles).
However, AutoDrive, as it is right now, is not the calming experience we were promised: it’s extremely bugged. Delamain appears to be an anxious driver: he’s constantly braking, even on desolate roads without another drive for miles. Sometimes, he’ll awkwardly cross multiple lanes of traffic without warning or purpose. When he needs to make a sharp turn, he’ll often slam on the brakes, sometimes even coming to a complete stop in the middle of traffic.

During the Cyberpunk 2077 live stream reveal, the chat filled up quickly with messages expressing disappointment about the update and desire for more.
These AutoDrive hiccups will often cause your car to smash directly into curbs, light posts, or other vehicles – thankfully, because of Delamain’s constant stop-and-start, these aren’t high-speed collisions. Even so, they can add up over time to really damage your vehicle.

More Unintentional Cyberpunk Humor
That said, AutoDrive will get you to your destination – just don’t expect to show up in one piece. You won’t exactly be looking out the window and taking in the scenery, and it may even be significantly slower than driving yourself, but it does work (almost) as advertised.
Just don’t expect to show up in one piece.
Some players have found its failures more entertaining than anything else: after all, such bad driving can be funny, as long as it’s all virtual. It’s also hilarious to imagine Delamain trying his best to give his buddy V a ride, only to panic, stop short in traffic, and just maybe destroy their car along the way.

From delta to gonk, becoming familiar with Cyberpunk 2077’s slang terms and what they mean can be crucial to getting the most out of the experience.
And it weirdly fits in with the rest of Cyberpunk‘s setting. Night City is a place of cutting-edge technology, but it doesn’t always work as intended – think Skippy, the talking gun. That contrast between improbable advancements in science and abject failure is a major part of Cyberpunk 2077‘s satire, its sense of humor, so it’s not totally inappropriate.
