Chris Pratt Names a Shocking Marvel Hero He Wants To Play After Star-Lord

Chris Pratt is looking to the future within the Marvel universe, and it extends beyond just keeping a promise to return as Star-Lord. The actor recently opened up about his Marvel ambitions, discussing a deep-seated desire to step into the boots of another iconic and far more brutal comic book vigilante.

Chris Pratt is interested in playing a specific version of the Punisher

Star-Lord isn’t the only Marvel character on Chris Pratt’s wish list. When asked by Dexerto if there was any character in all of fiction he would love to play, he said The Punisher. “He was my favorite comic book hero growing up so I’ve always loved Punisher,” Pratt quipped.

He also pointed out that fans have already seen him tap into similar energy with James Reece in The Terminal List. Further adding, “I get to kind-of play a version of The Punisher with James Reece… but yeah The Punisher. He was so good.”

With Jon Bernthal currently playing the character in the MCU, Pratt clarified that he’s eyeing something different. His pick? Punisher 2099, a darker, cyberpunk-inspired comic run set in a dystopian future. First released in 1993, Punisher 2099 follows Jacob Gallows, a future cop who takes on the Punisher mantle after his family is killed. The story leans heavily into themes of surveillance, corrupt power, and brutal justice.

For now, Pratt sounds happy revisiting Star-Lord in theory while daydreaming about a much grittier Marvel role down the line. He made it clear that Star-Lord is still unfinished business for him.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 wrapped up with Peter Quill heading back to Earth and a final promise on screen that “The legendary Star-Lord will return.” Asked which role he would most like to revisit, Pratt said, “We made a promise with Guardians of the Galaxy that Star-Lord would return – I think I’d really like to make good on that promise.”
