Following the cancellation of the Dick Wolf-produced half-hour procedural On Call, one of its stars, Brandon Larracuente, is moving on — to another Dick Wolf show. Variety reports that Larracuente has been cast in the upcoming fourteenth season of Chicago Fire, set to premiere this fall on NBC. He joins the long-running procedural in an undisclosed role, but it’s being reported that the character will have a significant arc. Larracuente starred alongside Troian Bellisario in On Call as a rookie, but the show was cancelled after the first season.

Larracuente’s addition to Chicago Fire does not bode well for On Call. The show had a complicated relationship with Prime Video because even after an initial two-season deal, the streamer opted to pass on the second season. However, they agreed to relinquish the show’s rights if it was to find a new home. Peacock was considered as a potential new home, according to the latest news about it. Larracuente’s new role might not be conducive to the production of another season of On Call. However, given that Peacock is owned by Chicago Fire‘s broadcaster’s parent company, NBCUniversal, everything might work out. We’ll have to wait and see, given that On Call had found a significant audience and topped TV charts after release.
