Giancarlo Esposito and Michelle Dockery are having a good old-fashioned stand-off in an exclusive to Collider sneak peek of Please Don’t Feed the Children. Slated for its Tubi premiere on Friday, June 27, the movie serves as Destry Allyn Spielberg’s feature-length directorial debut — and what a nail-biter to ride in on. Set in a dystopian future where adults become the primary victims of a deadly outbreak, a group of surviving orphans race against time to ensure their survival. Along the way, they find themselves seeking shelter in a mansion owned by a mysterious woman (Dockery). After a bit of back and forth, she takes them in, but things quickly take a turn for the sinister when she drugs the kids and holds them hostage.
Our exclusive sneak peek picks up well into the film, when Esposito’s character shows up on the doorstep of Clara’s (Dockery) home. From what we can gather, the kids are already inside, hidden out of sight from the rest of the world. After the orphans didn’t end up at their expected landing point, Esposito returned to question the woman after an earlier attempt to pry information from her. Hesitant and ready to strike, Clara begins to reach for a shotgun off the side of the door frame, but thinks twice and instead tries to lure her old friend inside. Sensing that she knows more than she’s letting on, Esposito’s character pushes Clara for more intel when she finally admits (presumably falsely) that she drove the teens to Las Cruces. As the sneak peek cuts out, it’s unclear whether Esposito takes her at her word or if he is still feeling off about the entire encounter.
Meet the Talent Behind ‘Please Don’t Feed the Children’
In addition to the two Emmy-nominated powerhouses, Esposito and Dockery, the talented ensemble behind Please Don’t Feed the Children features a lineup that includesZoe Colletti (Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark), Regan Aliyah (Ironheart), Dean Scott Vazquez (You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah), Andrew Liner (Ransom Canyon), Emma Meisel (Doogie Kameāloha, M.D.), Joshuah Melnick (Saint X) and Vernon Davis (The Ritual Killer). Paul Bertino joins as the scribe behind the edge-of-your-seat horror thriller.
Having grown up in the industry, Spielberg makes her feature-length directorial debut through the film, after learning the ins and the outs of the biz alongside her father, Steven Spielberg.
