‘Black Phone 2’ Cast and Crew Invite Audiences to the Coldest Layer of Hell in a New Featurette [Exclusive]

With audiences still answering the call in theaters,Black Phone 2 has officially skated into a surprisingly early digital release date today, November 4. The movie continues to make hand over fist at the global box office, but it just got a whole lot easier for fans of the Ethan Hawke and Mason Thames-led movie to invite The Grabber into their homes. Today, to celebrate the title’s on-demand premiere, we’re thrilled to partner with Universal Pictures and give fans an exclusive sneak peek at a featurette from the bonus features. Boasting a Certified Fresh critics’ rating of 72% on Rotten Tomatoes and a worldwide box office haul of $104.7 million and counting, it’s safe to say the world was more than ready for another chapter to come from the Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose) helmed growing franchise.

Join us on the frozen tundra in our exclusive sneak peek, where the cast and crew behind this year’s most anticipated horror sequel are hard at work on the latest installment. First, we hear from producer Jason Blum, whose very own Blumhouse Productions backed not just Black Phone 2, but also the 2021 movie that first introduced its characters. Next, we enter The Grabber’s (Hawke) lair, where Madeleine McGraw’s Gwen is doing her best to survive a similar nightmare situation to what her brother, Finney (Thames), experienced just a few years ago. Additionally, Derrickson’s co-scribe, C. Robert Cargill, reveals which literary classic inspired the pair’s telling, and costume designer Amy Andrews Harrell unveils the idea behind pulling off The Grabber’s mask now that he’s been dead for nearly half a decade.

What Is ‘Black Phone 2’ About?

After turning Joe Hill’s chilling novel into a cinematic experience and earning the studio a whopping $161.4 million with the debut film, it was a no-brainer that Derrickson’s Black Phone 2 received a greenlight. While some might have seen the death of The Grabber at the end of the first film as a bookend, the director and co-scribe viewed it as a challenge — one that he rose to the occasion of alongside Cargill. In the movie, The Grabber is as dead as can be, but he’s ready to exact revenge from the afterlife. To do so, he comes after Finney by way of his younger sister, Gwen, and raises hell on Earth at a Christian Camp where he previously committed crimes.

Joining the action in the sequel is a lineup that also includes Demián Bichir (The Nun), Arianna Rivas (A Working Man), Anna Lore (Final Destination Bloodlines) and Graham Abbey (The Border), as well as returning faces like Miguel Mora (So Help Me Todd), Jeremy Davies (Saving Private Ryan) and James Ransone (It Chapter Two).
