Anime Film from One of the Most Popular Series on Earth is Losing Its American Streaming Home Very Soon

Months before the widely cherished shōnen anime, My Hero Academia, returns for its final run this fall, its similarly successful movie, Two Heroes, has just received a distressing update. Directed by Kenji Nagasaki from a script written by Yōsuke Kuroda, My Hero Academia: Two Heroes was released in 2018 to critical acclaim and has since been added to several streaming homes in the U.S., where it has also found success. Unfortunately, one of these streamers will be removing the anime film from its catalog next month, giving fans only a few weeks to catch up.

Per CBR, My Hero Academia: Two Heroes won’t be available on Hulustarting from August 21, just a month away. However, the original anime episodes will still be available to stream on the platform. Hulu currently has all seven seasons of My Hero Academia available in its library, offering both English subtitles and dub formats. In the meantime, for those unable to catch up before Two Heroes’ removal, not to worry, as the movie is streaming on Crunchyroll, similar to the franchise’s other anime films, Heroes Rising, World Heroes’ Mission, and You’re Next.

My Hero Academia: Two Heroes is set between Seasons 2 and 3 of My Hero Academia, taking place after the Final Exams and before the Forest Training Camp story arcs of the manga. The critically acclaimed film premiered in Los Angeles on July 5, 2018, and then debuted in Japan on August 3 of the same year. A limited release then followed in the U.S. and Canada from September 25 to October 2, 2018. Two Heroes was the franchise’s first movie and a standalone adventure that didn’t directly tie into the manga or anime’s overarching narrative.

‘My Hero Academia’ Comes to A Climactic End This Fall

As fans gear up for Hulu’s removal of Two Heroes, they should also keep the return date of My Hero Academia in mind. The eighth and final season of the hit anime is set to premiere later this year, starting on October 4 in Japan. Crunchyroll has confirmed that it will add the episodes to its platform outside of Asia at the same time as they air in Japan. The new season will cover the rest of the Final War Arc and Epilogue Arc, concluding the show with a climactic battle between heroes and villains, including one between All Might and All For One, as well as the final confrontation between Izuku Midoriya and Tomura Shigaraki.
