Ariana Grande has been tapped to join the cast of American Horror Story Season 13, starring alongside franchise regulars. The announcement came from the Ryan Murphy Productions Instagram page, featuring the names of the cast members written in the customary AHS font and revealed on Halloween, no less.
Grande is no stranger to collaborating with Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, both of whom co-created the satirical slasher series Scream Queens, in which the pop icon starred as Sonya Herfmann (also known as Chanel #2). The series ran from 2015 to 2016, spanning only two seasons.
Who is in the American Horror Story Season 13 cast?
American Horror Story Season 13 will feature returning franchise vets, including Grande’s Scream Queens co-stars Emma Roberts and Billie Lourd. Jessica Lange (The Great Lillian Hall), who last appeared in the series in 2018’s American Horror Story: Apocalypse, will also return.
Other returning cast members also include Sarah Paulson (Ratched), Evan Peters (Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story), Angela Bassett (Zero Day), Kathy Bates (Matlock), Gabourey Sidibe (Difficult People), and Leslie Grossman (Love, Victor).
“Surprise, bitch. I bet you thought you’d seen the last of me,” the quote in the teaser reads. The quote was famously delivered by Madison Montgomery, a character in the series played by Roberts.

The announcement of Lange’s return is major news, especially for fans, as the actress had previously expressed disinterest in returning to the AHS universe. She previously said in an interview: “Oh Christ, no. I mean, I haven’t done it for more than 10 years, 12 years, so, no, I’m not doing it.”
The thirteenth season marks Grande’s return to the small screen. Her television and movie credits include Victorious, Sam & Cat, Don’t Look Up, and Wicked. She can next be seen reprising her role of Galinda “Glinda” Upland in Wicked: For Good, set to hit cinemas on November 21, 2025.
American Horror Story Season 13 is expected to premiere in 2026.
