At the time of writing, Liam Neeson continues his bid to become the king of Dad movies with Ice Road: Vengeance, as the film almost doubles the streaming figures of second place. ‘A Working Man’ (2025)

Luckily for you, his latest project, A Working Man, which was released in theaters earlier this year, has made its way to Prime Video this month and is ready and waiting for your weekend viewing. The film, directed by David Ayer from a screenplay he co-wrote with Sylvester Stallone, follows Statham’s Levon Cade, who is forced to use his skills as an ex-Royal Marine Commando to save a missing young girl.

If you’re looking for a critical darling with nuanced drama this weekend, A Working Man is not for you. However, if you’re looking for some fast-paced movie escapism full to the brim of action, this is the perfect pick for your weekend watch. Statham is at his very best, so don’t be fooled by the poor Rotten Tomatoes critics’ rating of 47% — audiences are actually awarding the film a truly impressive 87%.

‘Dangerous Minds’ (1995)

The brilliant Michelle Pfeiffer stars in this drama that is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. If you’re looking for a forgotten gem this weekend, why not give Dangerous Minds a try? The film follows Pfeiffer’s retired Marine, Louanne Johnson, who is hired as a teacher in an underfunded part of her neighborhood. With her life spiraling out of control and her students unwilling to listen, Louanne turns to unorthodox methods to try to gain their trust and succeed.

Despite receiving poor critical reception upon its release three decades ago, with the critics’ consensus saying the movie is “rife with stereotypes that undermine its good intentions,” Dangerous Minds is much better seen through a modern lens. A nostalgic trip to a mid-’90s classroom, Dangerous Minds boasts a genuinely inspiring central story, with Pfeiffer delivering an excellent performance as Louanne Johnson.

From Ryan Coogler‘s Sinners to the billion-dollar success of the live-action Lilo & Stitch remake, the 2025 box office has been dominated by a small selection of big names. However, hidden among the theatrical slate this year so far was the sleeper hit Last Breath, a small survival thriller starring the ever-brilliant Woody Harrelson. The movie follows a dangerous rescue attempt as expert deep-sea divers search for their crewmates who are trapped hundreds of feet underwater.

A breathless, pulse-pounding tale of camaraderie and resilience, Last Breath will keep you gripping the edge of your seat throughout. Directed by Alex Parkinson and written by Mitchell LaFortune and David Brooks, the movie is based on Parkinson’s 2019 documentary of the same name, which in turn is based on a real-life incident, making each nail-biting moment all the more powerful.
