Each new expansion to Disney Lorcana is exciting, not just for new characters and artwork, but for how the set will shake up the meta with its offered card mechanics. The tenth set, Whispers in the Well, is certainly doing just that, as it introduces new game mechanics and some notable cards that could present interesting defensive and offensive plays. Whispers in the Well launches for pre-release events at local hobby stores and Disney Parks on November 7, 2025, followed by a larger mass market release on November 14, allowing players everywhere to mix and match these cards into their decks.
The big news with this set may be the addition of a Whisper Glimmer character type and the Boost Ability, but there are several new cards that can be used to turn the tide of a game. Whether you want to create a new deck based on the Gargoyles or The Black Cauldron characters coming to Disney Lorcana, or just make a deck that can withstand any competition, Whispers in the Well should have something to cover all your bases.
Mowgli – Man Cub
19/204 EN.10, Amber Ink
Looking like he’s straight out of the movie, Mowgli is a pretty smart little man cub. The card can be played for only two ink and has fairly basic stats overall. However, his ability “Have a better look” could be very helpful, especially against a Song or Item-heavy deck.
When “Mowgli – Man Cub” is played, your opponent reveals their hand and must discard a non-character card of their choice. Of course, this wouldn’t be as useful if playing against someone who doesn’t use many Items or Action cards, but in the right situation, it would be fantastic. Especially if you use it in conjunction with any of the cards that allow you to bounce a character back to your hand to play again.
Iago – Stompin’ Mad
43/204 EN.10, Amethyst Ink
At first glance, “Iago – Stompin’ Mad” may not look all that impressive. It’s a cheap card, costing only two ink to play, and only quests for one lore. With two defense, it can get taken down fairly quickly too, but it’s what it can do before getting banished that is key here.
When using Iago to challenge an opponent’s character, suddenly his zero attack power becomes a five. This means he is a perfect weapon against some of the bigger enemy cards on the table, and at only two ink cost, it would be pretty easy to play.
Inkrunner (Item Card)
169/204 EN.10, Sapphire Ink
Sometimes an opponent can get a pretty quick win if they have a deck loaded up with Evasive cards, and you’re playing one with little to no cards to counter that. That’s where the Inkrunner Item comes in. It’s a simple card with many benefits, but it can be clutch when facing an Evasive-heavy deck.
Sapphire ink is generally heavy on Items, but this one could be one of the best. Not only does the player get to draw a card when playing Inkrunner, but with just one ink, the Item can give a chosen character the ability to challenge Evasive opponents. If the Evasive ability isn’t needed, this also makes a nice little inkable card to keep in the deck.
Spooky Sight
165/204 EN.10, Sapphire Ink
It’s too bad Halloween is over, as Whispers in the Well features several spooky-themed cards that would make a fun holiday deck. Even without using a Halloween theme, however, the Action card “Spooky Sight” is a good offensive tactic.
Though the card is not able to be inked and comes at a cost of six, the Action card makes all characters with a cost 3 or less go into their players’ inkwells. If you wanted, you could use this as a way to quickly fill up your own inkwell, but it will be more likely used to wipe the board if an opponent has numerous low-cost characters in play. Ideal when there are barriers to challenge, such as Bodyguard or Evasion.
Malicious, Mean, And Scary
97/204 EN.10, Emerald Ink
The Song card “Malicious, Mean, and Scary” could also be a good strategy for wiping the board of low-cost enemies. Once sung, one damage counter gets put on every opposing character, effectively banishing all characters who only have one defense.
To make the card even more treacherous, it could be followed up with another Song from the Whispers in the Well expansion, “Can’t Hold It Back Anymore”, which takes all damage counters and moves them to one chosen character.
Daisy Duck – Paranormal Investigator
154/204 EN.10, Sapphire Ink
This “Daisy Duck – Paranormal Investigator” is a fun character that also happens to have beautiful artwork, and perfectly goes along with Whispers in the Well‘s detective theme. Using the Shift ability, it can be played for only four ink, and will block opponents from being able to use any newly inked cards on turns when Daisy is exerted.
Even beyond the ink-blocking strategy, Daisy is a wonderful character to have in play. She can quest for two lore and has Support, so when she quests, her challenge power of four is added to another character, effectively creating a powerhouse out of another character to take down big characters. With a defense of six, she is also likely to stick around for a while.
Sudden Scare
164/204 EN.10, Sapphire Ink
Going along with the previously mentioned “Spooky Sight” card is this Action card, “Sudden Scare” with matching artwork. Like the other one, it also puts characters into the opposing player’s inkwell, but this one has no stipulation on how big or small that card could be.
Therefore, you could pull out “Sudden Scare” as a way of quickly removing a dangerous character card from the board, and with it being put into the inkwell rather than being banished, players will not be able to return it to play.
Cinderella – Dream Come True
155/204 EN.10, Sapphire Ink
While the Enchanted version of “Cinderella – Dream Come True” is currently one of the most valuable cards from Whispers in the Well, even this Legendary variant is fetching high prices. Not only is it a gorgeous card of a beloved Disney Princess, but the card itself can be invaluable in any Princess deck.
As long as you play a Princess character during a turn that Cinderella is out, you are able to put any card from your hand, even uninkable cards, into your inkwell and then draw a new card. This gives you a chance to quickly build up your inkwell while also helping to build your hand to be exactly what you need or want.
Mickey Mouse – Amber Champion
23/204 EN.10, Amber Ink
This new “Mickey Mouse – Amber Champion” is going to be a must-have for every Amber deck. An inkable character that costs only four, his Leading the Way ability gives all other Amber characters an extra two to their defenses. Additionally, as long as players have two or more other Amber characters in play, Mickey can sing Songs for eight.
This is one of the best Disney Lorcana: Whispers in the Well cards released. Really, there is no reason not to include this card in every Amber deck possible. Even without his special defensive and singing abilities, he’s a solid character.
Hades – Looking For A Deal
56/204 EN.10, Amethyst Ink
The ability on this “Hades – Looking For A Deal” card is just too fun to pass up. It so perfectly fits Hades, and is a strategic way of getting the advantage. When Hades is played, you can choose an opposing character that then must be either put on the bottom of that player’s deck, or you are able to draw two cards.
Either option is good for you. Whether you are able to get rid of one of your opponent’s cards or add more cards to your hand, both offer strategic boosts to you that can help sway any Disney Lorcana match.
