Josh Hartnett’s new movie, Fight or Flight, is now playing in most theaters everywhere, and the star is already lining up his next project. Netflix has announced that Hartnett will lead and executive produce a currently untitled series following a fisherman (Hartnett) in a remote town terrorized by a mysterious sea creature. The series will be set in Newfoundland, Canada, which is also where it will be filmed. Jesse McKeown has also been tapped to create and showrun the show for Netflix, and she has joined Hartnett as an executive producer alongside Jessica Rhoades, Chris Hatcher, Jamie Childs, Louise Sutton, and Sharon Hal. Karen Walton, Perry Chafe, and Natty Zavitz will fill out the writer’s room with Jamie Childs, Helen Shaver, and Stephen Dunn directing. No word on a potential release date or other cast members.
Hartnett has been on a bit of a hot streak lately. Shortly before he teamed up with Katee Sackhoff (The Mandalorian) for Fight or Flight, he also starred in Trap. The M. Night Shyamalan-directed thriller earned $83 million at the box office against a modest $30 million budget, and it’s currently streaming on both Max and Netflix. Hartnett was also one of the many names to cameo in The Bear, the Emmy-winning FX series that’s due to air its fourth season on Hulu this summer. He even featured in a sizeable role in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, the period epic starring Cillian Murphy that took home a whopping seven Academy Awards at last year’s Oscars. Hartnett can also be seen opposite Jason Statham in two Guy Ritchie-directed features, Wrath of Man (2021) and Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre (2023).
Josh Hartnett Has a Few Upcoming Projects
Hartnett is one of the many names attached to star in Verity, the next Colleen Hoover adaptation that will be led by Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson. The film has already been set for release on May 15, 2026. Hartnett will also star in The Long Home, the James Franco-directed feature that’s already completed production but lacks an official release date. Captain America: Brave New World stars Giancarlo Esposito and Tim Blake Nelson will also star in the film. He will even lead The Last Draw of Jack of Hearts, which comes from writer/director Guy Moshe, but additional casting for the film is ongoing.
Josh Hartnett’s untitled Netflix series does not have an official release date. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates on the show and all of Hartnett’s projects.
