New Chicago Fire Promo Confirms Return of Fan-Favorite Character

A new Chicago Fire promo reveals that Jake Lockett is returning to the NBC drama as firefighter Sam Carver. This marks the character’s first appearance since exiting the series last season. The preview indicates that his sudden return will complicate Violet’s evolving personal life.

Chicago Fire is bringing back a familiar face, with Jake Lockett set to reprise his role as firefighter Sam Carver in Season 14.

NBC teased the comeback in a promo released after the most recent episode, showing Carver making an unannounced appearance at Firehouse 51 at the exact moment Violet has begun to grow closer to newcomer Vasquez.

The preview focuses on a tense exchange between the two men. Carver states, “Violet deserves the best,” only for Vasquez to reply sharply, “I’m sorry, do we have a problem?” The promo suggests unresolved feelings and escalating tension between the two men.

Lockett last exited the series at the end of the previous season after his character was written out alongside Daniel Kyri’s amid reported efforts to reduce production costs. At the time, Carver’s storyline concluded with him leaving Chicago for Denver following a confession of love to Violet and a final kiss.

On Instagram, Lockett wrote, “While I don’t exactly know what the future looks like, I do know that it won’t be exactly what it was and I am going to miss the hell out of that. So much pride in this journey.”

When the current season opened, Violet revealed that she and Carver had cut off communication so they could each attempt to move forward. In recent episodes, she has begun growing closer to Vasquez and inviting him to Molly’s as their bond slowly developed.

However, Carver’s return could complicate Violet’s recent progress. The preview hints that unresolved feelings remain. It raises questions about whether Sam’s visit will revive their past or finally bring the closure.

The series continues Wednesday nights on NBC at 9 p.m. ET.
