Free Bert Season 1 just wrapped up, and viewers are curious to know whether Season 2 has been renewed or canceled. Viewers have taken a liking to the hearty Netflix comedy series that premiered with only a few episodes. Those who are left wanting more are wondering when the next season comes out.
So, here’s what we know so far about the next season.
Has Netflix canceled Free Bert or renewed it for Season 2?
Netflix has neither renewed nor canceled Free Bert for Season 2. There are no bonus episodes scheduled either.
Free Bert is a comedy series that features Bert Kreischer as himself. He plays the role of a stand-up comedian, whose major gimmick is being shirtless, just like in his real life. However, his life changes drastically when his daughters enter an elite Beverly Hills private school. After an online incident, his family’s reputation takes a hit. He is then forced to fit into the high-class society, leading to bizarre and hilarious events.
The show premiered with six episodes on January 22, 2026, all of which are now available to stream on Netflix. The show also features Arden Myrin as LeeAnn and Ava Ryan.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Kreischer shared that one of the scenes featured in the show is inspired by his own life. Early in the show, Bert is doing a stand-up set at Rob Lowe’s birthday party. During his set, Lowe urges him to take off his shirt.
This is an incident that he encountered in his real life, where he got paid $25,000 to do it at a private party. Talking about that evening in his life, he recalled thinking, “Laying in bed that night in Vail, Colorado, I thought to myself, ‘I just got paid $25,000 to take my shirt off and tell one story. $25,000.’”
The Machine star continued, “I was like, ‘What if that’s my life?’ So, we had that scene in the show [the fictional version takes place at Lowe’s party] . Then [we infused] the identity crisis that happens when you go to a new school, and you’re trying to fit in, and you just aren’t.”
